What's Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy about?

The plot is a mystery, but we do know that we'll be taking on the role of the charismatic Quill, and together with Groot, Gamora, Drax and Rocket, we'll be embarking on a completely new adventure. The game will not be a service like Avengers, but a traditional, single-player production, which is already good news. We also won't see a carbon copy of the movie characters, but an original version of the well-known figures conceived by Eidos.

Why do we love it?

Certainly, the love of the phenomenal movie Guardians of the Galaxy is a big factor in the reception of the trailer shown at E3. Virtual adventures with beloved characters in a brand new story is something all fans of Marvel universe will be stoked to try. A closed, single-player story, on the other hand, should be able to convince the rest of the players, as is games of this type that usually surprise us positively. If the soundtrack from the presentation presents the quality of the one actually in the game, it promises to be a truly spectacular production that should erase the unpleasant memories of the recent release of Marvel's Avengers.

What will Replaced be about?

Replaced is a classic, side-scroller adventure game. We will visit an alternate version of the United States in the 1980s. As the character called R.E.A.C.H – an artificial intelligence trapped in a human body – we'll explore a dark and dystopian world, with spectacular combat and platforming elements along the way. Everything comes in pixel-art style, which, with the addition of a few effects, looks very appealing.

Why do we love it?

There's no denying that the visuals come first, and the phrase "pixel-art" alone doesn't quite cut it. The creators have mixed the traditional, simple pixel style with distant backgrounds, pseudo-3D effects and depth of field. Combined with the reflections of light and the fog often visible in the nooks and crannies of the metropolis, it makes for an amazing spectacle. The dynamic fight sequences also make a good impression, and well-chosen music should complete the atmosphere. This is one of the most promising indie games.

Trek to Yomi

What's Trek to Yomi about?

Trek to Yomi is a Polish game heavily inspired by the films of Akira Kurosawa. We move to feudal Japan to fulfill the will of our master as a young samurai and protect the city from all evils. Despite being labelled as an adventure game, Trek to Yomi will bring a spectacular, skill-based combat with a samurai katana in the lead role. The unique atmosphere will be built by appropriate music and black-and-white visuals evocative of the films of the famous director.

Why do we love it?

As with Replaced, the small, independent game impressed us with its unique art style proving that you don't need photogrammetry and ray-tracing to create a visually compelling title. The locations look simply gorgeous, and the monochromatic color palette mixed with rain and fire produces spectacular views. Samurai combat also looks great, though these sequences were shown very briefly in the trailer. We keep our fingers crossed for a good title that will again make Polish gamedev a little bit famous in the world.

Metal Slug Tactics

What's Metal Slug Tactics about?

We've had Gears Tactics, now it's time for Metal Slug Tactics, another spin-off of a shooter laid out in a more tactical fashion. This time, we're getting the arcade room classic, Metal Slug. In MST we will control the well-known heroes, but in turn-based battles, observing locations from an isometric view.

Why do we love it?

Despite the complete change of pace of the gameplay, the spirit of the original can be seen and felt in the game. It's a game that's should mainly appeal to fans of the iconic series (if they're still alive), and the experiment with Gears Tactics proved that a shooter can be turned into a strategy game with success. We keep our fingers crossed and at the same time realize that we're talking here about a bit of a dusty IP.
