Fans of Assassin's Creed would really like to see feudal Japan in the series. Meanwhile, you can already play a game today that successfully challenges the famous series.
  1. Genre: honor above all
  2. Play it because: it's as good as the best Assassin's Creed games
  3. Don't play it if: You're not into exploring huge spaces in games
  4. Similar games: Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Assassin's Creed: Origins, Grand Theft Auto V

Ghost of Tsushima is a big hit from Sony's in-house studio and has arrived on PlayStation 4. The Sucker Punch team, while designing this game, must have carefully listened to the voices of Assassin's Creed community, who for many years have been demanding setting the story of assassins and templars in the realities of feudal Japan, and decided to prepare such a game themselves. Partly modeled on the great Ubisoft brand, partly adding original ideas, they developed a title that is a worthy competitor at the least. A tale of honor and revenge on an island overrun by enemies – GoT shines with its plot and remains memorable long after completion.

This game could be described in superlatives for a few more paragraphs, but it's probably best to just play it and see for yourself what an engaging title set in a vast, open world should look like! A gorgeous graphic design, fantastic missions (also side ones) and a great combat system will engage anyone for many hours.

The success of Sucker Punch's work may thwart the dreams of AC fans about the adventures of the Assassin Brotherhood in Japan. A direct competition between two, mechanically very similar brands in the same setting would be quite uncomfortable for both companies. There's no need to despair, though. There are still so many historical periods worth exploring that both series will surely find the right direction.
