The first official expansion for SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars. The plot of SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm follows the story of the core game, focusing on the problem of the weakening portals linking the islands. A bloody war breaks out in order to lead its participants into new, habitable territories. You play as one of the dragon race of Shaikan, and your task is to reach the fertile lands. The core of the Dragon Storm expansion is the single-player story campaign, featuring new locations and additions to the gameplay. Your companions can now perform many tasks, which yield them additional abilities. On the tactical side, a new race has been added, with their own skill tree, buildings and units. The set of weaponry, spells and abilities you can use has also been expanded. There are also additions to the multiplayer mode, such as new maps and new gameplay modes: King of the Hill and Arena Quest.

In the game, we assume the role of a hero who finds an ancient map that is the key to learning the secrets of the past. The protagonist can be a representative of several classes that are different in terms of strengths and weaknesses and can perfect himself in twenty skills. Their statistics determine the approach to the gameplay to a large extent. As befits a classical RPG, the fun boils down to exploration, performing quests, and turn-based combat that lets us use many types of weapons that we have found or crafted.

The political aspect of the gameplay was subject to major changes, thanks to which players can now stage coups in other countries of fall victims to such. Hearts of Iron III: For the Motherland expands diplomacy, giving warring countries the so-called war goals. Guerilla warfare was enriched with such elements as infiltration of enemy territory or sabotage. Sea warfare in the North Atlantic, in which submarines take part, was also reworked. Hearts of Iron III: For the Motherland enhances the game’s engine and lets it utilize the power of dual-core processors. Moreover, the artificial intelligence was improved, the interface was simplified, and the gameplay speed was increased in order to enable players to finish an entire campaign during one evening.

While one of those bodies is inhabited by humans, the other one is populated by mechanical being preparing to launch an attack on the other party. The player is put in the shoes of Shulk, an 18-year-old orphan, whose home at Colony 9 is attacked by the machines. The game focuses on exploration, featuring vast locations as well as various enemies dealt with using a real-time combat system that offers a wide array of special attacks. One of the game's hallmarks is the attachment meter that indicates the status of relationships among the team members. This element was inspired by the first installment in the Dragon Age series.

Along with its twin project – Gratuitous Tank Battles – the game presents a slightly different approach to the popular tower defense strategy game genre. One can do this by constructing from scratch various units and manually selecting parts and elements of munitions. Then, one has to prepare battle formations and give orders to their commanders, sit back and observe how his protégés handle the battle by themselves. In comparison to the first installment in the series, the developers introduced several new gameplay mechanics – the most prominent being 3 new spaceship classes (battleships, heavy fighters, and destroyers). The available set of weapons and components has been significantly expanded. The game also introduces carrier ships and the necessity to replenish fuel reserves.

Simple gameplay mechanics are only the tools used for telling an intriguing story which the player will reveal as he progresses in the game. The plot forces the player to repeat the game many times in order to discover all hints related to the story.

The player has a wide variety of cutting-edge weapons and parts of equipment at their disposal, though in terms of the mechanics, the game follows the successful patterns of the predeceasing titles. As usual, the story campaign is an open-world experience here and it can be played in the co-op mode as well.

The action of Metro 2033 takes place in the tunnels of the Moscow subway that now shelters the survivors from dangerous mutants. In the sequel, we abandon the underground tunnels to explore the open spaces of the ruined city. Due to the gameplay enhancements, the game now offers a multiplayer mode. Both titles in the bundle are almost identical to the original ones and any changes involve mainly improved graphics.
