The game is set in the near future and the plot revolves around a war between a military organization in control of the world, and a resistance group. Forged Battalion uses a lot of concepts considered typical in the genre, but it also adds new mechanics that enrich the experience. The player constructs bases, develops technologies, produces machines and battles enemies.

The religion list now includes Church of England. Moreover, during the game, the players get to participate in the initial stages of the industrial revolution.
