Soulslike games are known for their high difficulty, and the level of challenge is multiplied especially with players unfamiliar with the genre. Thats why we invite you to check out our starting tips for the game, which will be a good opportunity to learn and avoid some of the pitfalls.
- Check the status and repair your weapons
- Use Block often
- Use Fable Arts
- Regenerate Pulse Cells
- Spend Ergo as often as possible
Check the status and repair your weapons
In Lies of P, every attack or block deteriorates your equipped weapon's durability. If the bar gets depleted, the weapon will be destroyed, making repairs much more difficult. Moreover, with a damaged weapon, your attacks will deal a lot less damage. Therefore, when you see that your weapon is nearing destruction, equip and use Grinder, which will repair and sharpen it.
Use Block often
Pinocchio can defend from enemy attacks in two ways - either blocking them with his weapon or performing a dodge. Unfortunately, the second way is not very viable, as the hero covers little ground with the dodge and the perfect dodge window is small. Most attacks will reach you despite the dodge.
In case of blocking, you have two options: hold guard, or perform a perfect block. When it comes to the first option, the damage received is reduced (but not fully mitigated) and the weapon gets a durability hit, but you can regain some health this way. A perfect block, on the other hand, allows you to throw your opponent off balance or even destroy their weapon. Timing is key here. If you manage to master perfect blocking, use it as often as you can.
Use Fable Arts
Attacking enemies makes the Fable bar fill up - when it is fully charged, you can use a special attack. A charged bar allows you to use up the energy to attack with the Fable Arts of the currently equipped weapon, then it has to be charged again. Every weapon has a different Fable Art, so match it to the style of play you prefer.
Regenerate Pulse Cells
Pulse Cell is a consumable item that refills lost health points. Initially, you will be able to use it only 3 times, but as the gameplay progresses, your cell capacity will increase. If you don't have any on you at all, you can replenish one Pulse Cell by attacking enemies and defeating them. This method doesn't work in situation when you have only one use. Therefore, if you have low health, it's better to replenish it with the last charge of a Pulse Cell, so that over time you can gain more.
Spend Ergo as often as possible
Ergo is a universal currency with which you can buy items, weapons, and upgrade your character's statistics. However, it is not worth to save indefinitely, as with each death, gathered Ergo is lost. If you die, you risk losing all of the gathered Ergo irretrievably. That is why it is recommended to spend it completely on weapon or character upgrades as soon as the opportunity appears.
Same applies to Ergo consumables. Use them to amass a lot of wealth right before buying something. Don't use them away from traders, blacksmiths, or close to a stargazer.
