Apex Legends Universe Will Get a Single-Player FPS

Respawn Entertainment studio is working on a single-player FPS spin-off of Apex Legends.

Job listings have long been an excellent source of information about games that weren't officially announced yet. The new project of Respawn Entertainment studio is the latest example.

  1. There are several announcements, and they point to a single-player game set in the universe of Apex Legends.
  2. The production is described as a first-person shooter.
  3. The project is currently being handled by a so-called incubation group, a small team that is laying the foundation for a full game.
  4. Thanks to earlier reports we know that the studio is working on a high-budget single-player FPS, which will emphasize the player's high mobility. It is unclear, though, if this is the same project.

It is worth mentioning that Respawn is also developing an FPS in the Star Wars universe. So the team has at least two first-person shooters in production.

It is interesting to note that the studio has repeatedly made it clear that they aren't working on Titanfall 3. Apex Legends is set in the same universe, but focusing on the latter brand is not surprising, as it is much more popular. A single-player adventure with the characters of Apex Legends is likely to sell better than TF3, and, at the same time, may please fans of the excellent campaign of Titanfall 2.

No chance for Titanfall 3, so fans are keeping Titanfall 2 alive.

Respawn Entertainment studio has completely abandoned the Titanfall series. The studio not only is it not working on a new installment, but it has also given up on stopping hackers. These led to the first part of the series being pulled from sale, and playing the sequel is problematic.

Fortunately, a group of ambitious fans has developed a modification called Northstar for Titanfall 2. It allows you to create private servers, and this has been done in a way that makes hacking attacks hard. The project also allows you to install new content, including additional modes.

This mod is extremely valuable, because even if Respawn's new game satisfies fans of TF2's campaign, the studio has no intention of developing the multiplayer ideas from Titanfall, while Apex Legends is too different to replace that series.
