Borderlands 3 Without Pre-load on Epic Games Store

We have received confirmation that Epic Games Store will not offer a pre-load option for Borderlands 3, i.e. the possibility to download game files before the official release.

Borderlands 3 will be released in exactly a month.
BORDERLANDS 3 IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Developer: Gearbox Software
  2. Publisher: 2K Games
  3. Genre: Action game
  4. Platforms: PC, XONE, PS4
  5. Release date: September 13, 2019

We have to disappoint those hoping to download Borderlands 3 files from Epic Games Store before the official release. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has confirmed that pre-load will not be available for this game.

He explains that this option has already been added to the site's systems, but they are not yet ready to handle production launches of such a big interest as Borderlands 3, so we may soon see pre-loads in other games on Epic Games Store, while those waiting for the latest project from Gearbox Software will have a to do without.

This is bad news for gamers, as the PC version of Borderlands 3 will be available only on Epic Games Store until April next year. This is also bad news for the owners of the platform. The game is by far the biggest exclusivite title that the platform has ever managed to acquire. Many people will use it for the first time just for this project and the underdeveloped client will hardly make a good impression on them.

After this news, the old statements by the CEO of Gearbox Software are somewhat amusing. In April Randy Pitchford, defending the decision concerning exclusivity, explained that in August, when Borderlands 3 debuts, Epic Games Store will be a much more extensive service. He argued that he was sure of it, because inadequate quality of service would seriously harm Epic Games. As you can see, Pitchford has greatly miscalculated.

Borderlands 3 is coming to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and is slated for release on September 13. We do not need to worry about delays, as the devs recently informed that the game has gone gold.
