Crash Bandicoot Celebrates 25th Birthday; Toys For Bob Teases Next Game?

The Crash Bandicoot franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary today. To celebrate the occasion, the developers from Toys For Bob, devs of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's about time, recorded a video, in which they may be teasing the next installment.

Exactly 25 years ago, on September 9, 1996, the world witnessed the release of Crash Bandicoot. The title quickly became one of the fan-favorites among the owners of the first PlayStation, which was convenient for Sony, because the company - envious of the competition's Sonic and Mario - from the beginning wanted to turn the bandicoot into its mascot. The goal was achieved, and Crash has appeared in numerous sequels - more or less successfully - including the recent Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time!Toys For Bob, the studio behind the latter, has decided to give fans of the brand a video commemorating the history of the series. You can watch it below.

If you made it to the end of the video, you already know that the developers have further plans for the franchise. When wishing Crash a happy anniversary, one of the studio's heads, Avery Lodato, hinted (at 1:38) that we'll soon learn something new about the future of the bandicoot. This may, of course, mean anything, but after the success that was the latest game, the creators may be preparing a sequel. It is also possible that following the example of N. Sane Trilogy and CTR Nitro-Fueled we will get a remake of Crash Bash. No less likely is another mobile title to follow after the very popular On the Run!

While pondering the possible scenarios, we can (re)play the previous installments of the series. Their console versions can currently be purchased as part of the Crashiversary Bundle on Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo stores, but at the moment only the PS Store, where a bundle containing Crash 4, plus remasters of the original three games and Crash Team Racing, offers it at a really attractive price - just $59.99 US, with the competition charging 40 or 60 dollars more.
