Dead Island 2 was brought up during Embracer Group's financial results presentation today, and the CEO's response to one of the questions suggests that the release could come before next year's Easter.

This June will mark eight years since the announcement of Dead Island 2. Techland parted ways with the series after releasing Riptide in 2013, after which it focused on the the Dying Light brand. The sequel to Dead Island is currently set to be worked on by Deep Silver's Dambuster Studios.
A week ago we wrote about the assurances of Deep Silver (the game's publisher) that the title was still in development. This news was verified earlier by well-known insider Tom Henderson, who also shared some details about the sequel's prologue.
Today's presentation of the financial results of the Embracer Group (the company to which Deep Silver belongs) shed some light on the possible release date of the sequel to Dead Island (01:52:45). During the Q&A session, a question was asked about when we can expect the game to be released:
Oscar Erixon, equity research analyst at Carnegie: "Personally, I'm expecting a release in this fiscal year or, sorry, I should say next fiscal year. Is that reasonable thinking and what can we expect from a title that has been in development for something like 10 years?"
Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors replied: "I can't talk about Dead Island 2 because the game as such is not announced by the publisher. But we just talked about having one unannounced AAA title. [There was a brief pause here - ed. note] You claim it's Dead Island 2 so it's hard for me to comment any further [Wingefors added, smiling - ed.]"
