Dying Light Video Game Series
Dying Light is a series of sandbox action games set in a world overrun by zombies. The Polish studio Techland, experienced in creating such productions with its 2011 release, is responsible for its creation. Dead Island.
The first installment of Dying Light was released in 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (and in 2021 also on Nintendo Switch). The play formula was diversified relative to Dead Island mainly through expanded parkour mechanics, allowing climbing on almost all objects in the game. The title was developed over many years through DLC, the largest of which, Dying Light: The Following, premiered in 2016, the full-fledged sequel, Dying Light 2, hit the market a few years later, in 2022, for the same platforms as its predecessor, plus PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
The world depicted in both games is struggling with an epidemic of a mysterious virus that turns infected people into zombies. In the first installment, the protagonist is Kyle Crane, a special agent who travels to the quarantined city of Harran. His task is to recover a stolen file used to blackmail his employer - the GRE organization. Addendum The Following is the culmination of Kyle's story and focuses on the infiltration of the headquarters of a mysterious cult. The action of the second part takes place 20 years after the events of the first. A dangerous virus, researched by scientists for commercial purposes, escapes from the laboratory, spreads across the globe within two years and leads to the collapse of civilization. The main character, Aiden Caldwell, arrives in the world's last city, Villedor, to find his missing sister.
The action in the games Dying Light are observed from a first-person perspective. Their gameplay is essentially divided into 2 elements: combat and parkour. At our disposal we get a number of melee weapons, which we can construct and upgrade ourselves based on schematics. Using them, we face dozens of zombies and the few surviving humans fighting for survival. The parkour system allows us to climb virtually any object in the game, and some of the moves associated with it help us eliminate enemies faster (such as a slide or a kick from a jump). NPCs commission us to do tasks we perform in the open world. For undertaking these activities we receive experience points, needed to upgrade our characters. Dying Light 2 expands on the formula of the first part, adding more options for traversing locations, such as hang gliding, and eliminating enemies. In addition, the continuation relies on an extensive system of choices - we make them often and many times they have a significant impact on the functioning of the presented world.
Series Dying Light is a major commercial success. Already before the release of the second part, it found about 16 million viewers and was transferred to other media. Indeed, in 2015 the book was published Dying Light: Nightmare Alley by Raymond Benson, which tells the story of the beginning of the epidemic in the city of Harran and a heroine completely unprepared for such a turn of events.

An first-person perspective survival horror game, created by the Polish developer Techland, known for Dead Island and the Call of Juarez series, among others. The player assumes the role of a character who is trying to survive in a zombie-infested metropolis. The sandbox gameplay of Dying Light is divided into two phases. During the day, the game puts main focus on exploration and acquisition of raw materials and weapons, while at night players must face hordes of the living dead. The creators wanted to put the accent on two gameplay elements: thrilling combat with a variety of weapons (including crafted ones), and dynamic movement throughout the city, enabling the players to overcome terrain obstacles using parkour. In addition to a single-player campaign, Dying Light also offers a four-person cooperation mode via the Internet.
