Diablo 4 in Cathedral; Blizzard Surprises With Creative Marketing

Blizzard has been drumming up the hype for Diablo IV. This time, the developers used impressive artwork to advertise their upcoming game, which they placed on the walls of a former historic cathedral.

Blizzard does not disappoint when it comes to advertising of its biggest hits. This time, the developers - in connection with the fast approaching beta testing of Diablo IV - have served us a truly impressive campaign to promote the title.

Devil's Cathedral

For the purposes of the marketing campaign they completely restored and decorated the interior of one of the former French churches. The former cathedral Chapelle des Jésuites de Cambrai was "decorated" with numerous motifs and references to the upcoming work from the Sanctuary universe.

We reassure you - the action advertising Diablo IV does not bear the mark of sacrilege, as the church building has been deconsecrated for some time now, i.e. it does not serve as an official temple.

Interestingly, however, the church in question is still on the list of historical monuments, which means that the creators could not paint Diablo IV motifs directly on the building. Murals were therefore created on the walls and ceiling of the former cathedral.

The artworks, which were first created on canvas and only later transferred to the walls of the former temple, depict the five character classes from Diablo IV, who clash with the forces of evil.

You can see the results of the Chapelle des Jésuite de Cambrai's metamorphosis by watching the new live-action trailer of Diablo IV. We are posting it below.

Hectic work pace

It's worth mentioning that a total of 20 unique paintings were created for this impressive project, which together form an almost 50-meter-long mural.

The work was headed by artist Adam Miller, who, along with his team, completed the work in just 30 days. As Miller points out, "the scale and pace of the work was a bit crazy."

At the very end, we remind you that the Early Access beta of Diablo IV will launch on March 17 at 5 p.m. CET and will last until March 20. In contrast, the Open Beta will start on March 24 at 5:00 p.m. and will end on March 27.
