Digital Foundry Chose Best Looking Games of 2022

Digital Foundry has selected the best looking games of 2022. In first place was Sony's lovely exclusive.

The end of the year is traditionally a period of summaries. One of them has just been published by the popular Digital Foundry channel, whose creators have selected the most visually impressive games of 2022.

Best looking games of 2022 according to Digital Foundry

Place:

Game:

1.

Horizon Forbidden West

2.

The Callisto Protocol

3.

RTX Portal

Digital Foundry specializes in analyzing the technological aspects of video game graphics, so this list was compiled from that angle, and not, for example, according to the prettiest visual style.

RTX Portal was singled out mainly because of its amazing lighting system, making great use of ray tracing capabilities. In turn The Callisto Protocol impressed the Digital Foundry crew not only with the quality of execution, but also with the fact that, despite the use of Unreal Engine 4.0, the game offered very unique graphics and squeezed more out of this technology than any other title.

In the end, there could only be one winner, and the game that was named the graphically best game of 2022 was Horizon Forbidden West. The game impressed the folks at Digital Foundry with the level of detail, as well as the fact that the developers managed to fix all the visual shortcomings from the previous part, such as poor character animations during conversations and the disappointing lighting system. It's also impressive that the game looks very good on PS4, but the PlayStation 5 version is much prettier and doesn't seem to have suffered from the fact that the developers had to make an older console release in parallel.

The other most visually impressive games of 2022

In addition to these top three, the video also mentions the other most graphically impressive games of the passing year:

  1. Dying Light 2
  2. Need For Speed Unbound
  3. Fortnite (version after the update introducing Unreal Engine 5.1)
  4. A Plague Tale: Requiem
  5. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
  6. The Last of Us Part 1
  7. Gran Turismo 7

These seven were given in random order. Together with the top three, all these games make up the list of the ten most visually impressive games of this year according to Digital Foundry.
