So long horses, hello dino-cavalry! Dinolords is where swords and saddles meet giant reptiles.
We’ve seen weird (A Game About Digging A Hole), we’ve seen cute (Wild Terrain), and an absolute chaos (R.E.P.O.), but Dinolords is going to be on a whole new level, and I can already feel it becoming my next obsession. Forget your usual RTS, this game throws dinosaurs into medieval England in 1002 AD, giving us a chance to experience some epic Jurassic warfare.
In this game, we’re not just regular lords defending England from Viking invasions – we’re fighting against domesticated dinosaurs. There are still the usual RTS elements like resource gathering, settlement building, and army management, but let’s be real... dinos are basically replacing horses here!
From what we can see in the trailer, even as a lord, you’ve got to roll up your sleeves and build everything yourself (talk about dedication). I love it when familiar formulas get mixed together, and that’s exactly what we’ve got here: RTS with a mix of action RPG, where you’ll actually control your lord during battles.
Dinolords doesn’t have a release date yet, but we do know it’ll be launching in Early Access on Steam. The game is being developed by Northplay, an indie studio from Denmark, and published by Ghost Ship Publishing. Northplay has a few games under their belt (Super Planet Life, Headland), but this one definitely feels like their biggest project yet. And if the name Ghost Ship Publishing rings a bell, that’s because they’re closely tied to Ghost Ship Games, the studio behind Deep Rock Galactic.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
