Deadline reports that Dragon Ball Super: Broly, full-length anime anime, is very popular in the United States. According to estimates, the production generated more than $5 million on the opening day in the USA. For comparison, the previous film from the series entitled Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' made a profit of $1.97 million in the same period. According to the American distributor, Funimation, Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the first anime screened in IMAX cinemas in the United States. It is estimated that the film can generate up to $11 million in the first week after its release.

Japanese premiere of Dragon Ball Super: Broly took place on December 14, 2018. During the first three days over 820 thousand tickets were sold, which translated into 1.05 billion yen of profit (about 11 million $).

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is the twentieth film of the Dragon Ball series and at the same time the first of the Super sub-series. The production focuses on the character of Ultimate Super Saiyan Broly, thus officially including him in the canon of the series (although the hero has existed since 1993, until now he has appeared only in non-canonical works). The director of the animated movie is Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z).
