Dune: Awakening With First Footage on Game Engine

Dune: Awakening appeared at The Game Awards 2022. During the gala, the first trailer with scenes on the game engine was shown.

One of the games shown at The Game Awards 2022 gala turned out to be Dune: Awakening, a survival network game being developed by Funcom, set in a popular science fiction universe.

Unlike the first trailer, shown in August at gamescom, the new trailer consisted of scenes generated on the game engine. However, it should be borne in mind that the project is currently in pre-alpha, so a lot of things is still subject to change.

It was also confirmed that the game will come to PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5. This is important, as only the PC release was revealed at gamescom.

The official website also published a short article describing how the gameplay will be presented. So, we will observe the events from a third-person camera. In combat we will use melee weapons and firearms, as well as a sizeable set of special techniques. There will also be the possibility to use flying machines and the option to build bases and construct items using a crafting system. A key role in the virtual economy will be played by mining and selling spice melange.

Currently, we do not know when the title will debut on the market. The official website has already launched sign-ups for beta tests, but it has also not yet been revealed when they will be organized.
