Epic Games Engineer on PS5: A Masterpiece of System Design"

Two employees of Epic Games - Vice President of Engineering, Nick Penwarden, and Kim Liberi's Chief Technology Officer - have complimented the power and capabilities of PS5.

The PS5 is stirring great emotions in the industry.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. High-profile Epic Games employees Nick Penwarden and Kim Liberi have complemented the PS5;
  2. In their opinion, the platform provides a huge leap in performance and will enable the devs to offer the players a completely new experience.

Some time ago, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney spoke very positively about the PS5, and in particular about the SSD used in Sony's new console. Now the platform is being praised by another employee of the studio responsible for Unreal Engine - Nick Penwarden, vice president responsible for engineering (via Official PlayStation Magazine).

"The PlayStation 5 is a masterpiece of systems design. Not only is it driving a huge leap in computing and graphics performance, but it is also revolutionary in terms of storage and data compression technology, unlocking new kinds of games and experiences for players to enjoy," said Penwarden.

In an interview with journalists from the same magazine, Epic Games' technology director Kim Liberi spoke in a similar tone, complimenting the power of the PS5.

"Next-gen graphics and processing power will not only make games more immersive, but will also enable entirely new gameplay concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much improved physics, smarter AI, and richer multiplayer experiences," said Kim Liberi.

The PS5 does not have a specific launch date so far - we only know that Sony\s console will be launched at the end of this year.
