Strategy Game With 97% Positive Reviews on Steam, Ton of Mods, and Will to Go Beyond

Factorio sales have exceeded 3.5 million copies. The game's active modding community plays an important role in the unflagging popularity of this strategy title.

Wube Software boasted of the achievements of Factorio, including sales results.

  1. Factorio has already found more than 3.5 million buyers. In February last year, the developers informed about exceeding 3.1 million copies.
  2. Sales remain stable at around 500,000 units per year. This is all the more impressive given that the game has never been discounted and the developers have no sales planned.
  3. In October 2022 Factorio launched on Nintendo Switch. To date, 40,000 copies have been sold on this console. Interestingly, of this number, as much as 40% sold in Japan.
  4. Factorio continues to be highly acclaimed by gamers. On Steam as many as 97% of player reviews praise the title, which is categorizec as an "overwhelmingly positive" reception.

The developers are constantly working on the game. Upcoming plans include adding full Steam Deck support and implementing mouse and keyboard support in the Nintendo Switch release. We can also expect new items - they are teased in the Christmas card you'll find at the top of this article.

High popularity of mods for Factorio

The developers also shared a handful of stats on mods for Factorio. In 2022:

  1. mods were used by 638,000 players, who downloaded more than 41 million modifications;
  2. 1686 new mods and 7227 updates to older projects were released last year;

Developers are working all the time to make life easier for mod creators. Last year, a survey was organized in which creative fans could express themselves on what they need most, and the results will shape the game's direction in this regard. Some of the community's suggestions have already been implemented, including the improvement of mod categories.
