Ubisoft Assures Far Cry 6 Will Run Smoothly on Last-gen

As VGC has learned, in the near future developers from Ubisoft are planning to show Far Cry 6 gameplay recorded on last-gen consoles. According to assurances, the game is expected to run well on all platforms.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. David Grivel from Ubisoft Toronto assured that Far Cry 6 will run well on all platforms, including those of the previous generation;
  2. On PS5 and XSX, the game is supposed to run in 4K and 60 FPS;
  3. In the meantime, gamers have noticed that the game's promotional materials include a complete map of the island on which the action of Far Cry 6 will take place.

Ubisoft's recent show gave us a glimpse of what Far Cry 6's gameplay will look like. As a massive open-world game with nice looking graphics, the title will have some pretty hefty requirements, which may have worried owners of previous-gen consoles on which the title is also due to be released. No one wants a repeat of Cyberpunk 2077, which left a bad aftertaste in the mouths of PS4 and Xbox One owners (though not only them).

Words of the developers are to reassure the players - in an interview for VGC David Grivel from Ubisoft Toronto assured that the game works well on all platforms and in the coming weeks and months we will see more footage from different consoles, so most likely we'll get gameplays from both current and previous generation hardware.

When asked about possible problems with the PS4 and XONE versions of the game, Grivel said that the developers are "aiming for maximum quality on all platforms" and that they are "very careful about that, so more details will be provided very soon". The developer also added that Far Cry 6 is expected to run in 4K at 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X:

“One detail I can add about the new generation is that it allowed us to run the game at 60 FPS and in 4K, which is really cool I test it on kits at the company and I can definitely see that as a great thing on the new generation, but that doesn’t mean that the previous generation is abandoned in any way.”

As for other news regarding the latest installment of the Far Cry series, the fans were quick to acquire a lot of information from the latest trailer - e.g. they revealing the entire map of Yara, the fictional country where the game is set. Ubisoft's promo materials briefly show the map of the island in its entirety, which has not escaped the attention of vigilant gamers.
