First Reviews: Twin Mirror - Life is Strange Devs Fail to Deliver

From the reviews of Twin Mirror emerges a picture of a game that is interesting, but burdened with numerous problems that prevent it from fully realizing its potential.

Yesterday marked the launch of Twin Mirror, the latest adventure game from DONTNOD Entertainment, studio known among others from the Life is Strange series. There is already enough reviews on the web to assess whether the project meets the hopes placed in it. Unfortunately, the reviews indicate that this time the devs have failed.

The PC version of Twin Mirror has an average rating of 67% on Metacritic. Console editions currently have too few reviews. Below are some sample notes:

Example scores of Twin Mirror:

  1. Evereye.it - 8/10
  2. PC Invasion - 8/10
  3. Shacknews - 8/10
  4. 4Players.de - 75/100
  5. PCGamesN - 7/10
  6. GameSpot - 7/10
  7. Trusted Reviews - 3.5/5
  8. TheSixthAxis - 7/10
  9. Vandal - 6.5/10
  10. JeuxVideo - 13/20
  11. PCGames.de - 6/10
  12. Destructoid - 6/10
  13. PCGamer - 52/100
  14. IGN - 5/10
  15. Windows Central - 2/5

As you can see, the scattering of marks is quite considerable. Most reviews agree, however , thatTwin Mirror is a very uneven game. It has many interesting elements, but also a lot of problems. The editors often praise detective mechanics and interesting intrigue in general, but complain about the short story and weak main character. In addition, the game offers a lot of solutions that have great potential, but are used too rarely to realize it. The main plot is said to end when it just starts to pick up pace.

Currently it is the worst-rated game of DONTNOD Entertainment. There is no chance to fix things in subsequent episodes, because unlike the Life is Strange series, the team's latest game is not episodic. Twin Mirror will remain an interesting, but deeply flawed work, which is unlikely to satisfy the studio's fans.

Twin Mirror was released on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
