Square Enix is not abandoning its coldly-received Forspoken. The game has received a hefty patch that fixes issues related to the visuals and the gameplay itself.
The narrative surrounding Forspoken may yet change, thanks to successive patches that bring the game to a better conditions. The latest of these - numbered 1.10 - affects many important issues related to gameplay and visuals. Some time ago, the developers informed that they were working on the update, and now it is finally available. The official website of Square Enix published a detailed entry discussing the changes it introduces.
Gameplay in Forspoken, despite performing well overall, suffered from several shortcomings. The developers took it upon themselves to eliminate them and added new options related to accessibility.
All changes are, of course, optional, so you don't have to use them. Above you will find a short video with a presentation of the most important of them.
A lot of criticism directed at the game was based on the visuals. After the new patch it should be much better in this regard. The developers have worked on the lighting of locations, thanks to which buildings and other elements of the environment now have a nicer illumination (e.g. in the corners).
Developers also tried to improve the optimization of Forspoken, especially when it comes to the PC version, because it was the one that had the biggest problems. Those who have hardware that can cope with the recommended requirements should, according to the developers, experience 30-percent improvement in performance. This is expected to be similar for the PS5 version.
Finally, let me remind that Forspoken debuted on January 24 only on PC and PlayStation 5. The game did not appeal to many players, but there are also some positive reviews.
