Harry Potter TV series will include a character who was left out of the Sorcerer's Stone movie and was only included in a later installment of the series.
Filming for the Harry Potter TV series from HBO Max has begun. The creators themselves have shared the first photos of the actors in costumes, so fans of the series were able to find out what the new Harry and the Hogwarts uniforms look like, as well as the appearance of the much-loved Hagrid. Both characters were met with a positive reception.
In turn, they were followed by more character reveals, however, this time unofficial. Daily Mail shared photos from the London Zoo, where a familiar scene from the Sorcerer's Stone (known also as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) was filmed, which was pretty much trimmed down in the movie. However, it looks like more details from the books will be depicted in the TV show and even Dudley's colleague Piers Polkiss, whom the Dursleys took with them, wont’ be missing.
The actor playing this character can be seen in photos from the London Zoo. It looks like Piers Polkiss will be played by Mickey McAnulty, who previously appeared in Trying and Blitz.
In the Harry Potter films, Piers was played by Jason Boyd; however, the character didn’t appear in the Sorcerer's Stone, despite his presence in the book. He was only introduced in Order of the Phoenix. J.K. Rowling described Piers Polkiss this way:
Piers was a scrawny boy with a face like a rat. He was usually the one who held people's arms behind their backs while Dudley hit them.
Harry Potter TV series will apparently actually be more faithful to the book, even taking into account such details as the characters in the background. The films managed to do without Piers in the Sorcerer's Stone, but viewers of the TV show will be able to get to know Dudley's colleague, who wasn't too fond of Harry, from the very beginning. He doesn’t have a large role, but his participation will certainly be appreciated by fans of the adventures of the young wizard.
