Today, Nintendo confirmed that there will be a Nintendo Direct presentation on March 27th, 2025. This is notable as the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2nd, is just one week away. In a social media post announcing the presentation, Nintendo of America has confirmed a few things. The direct will be “featuring around 30 minutes of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch. There will be no updates about Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation.” Here’s how to watch and what to expect.

Nintendo Direct scheduled for tomorrow, here’s how to watch and what to expect

First, before the live chat is flooded with fans asking for news about Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s not happening. Sorry to be a non-believer, but a brief 30-minute presentation a week before the Nintendo Switch 2 showcase is not where this game will land. Silksong has grown past the point where it needs to jockey for space in a presentation filled with other games. In some ways, they have become the indie Grand Theft Auto 6. They don’t need to be part of any particular presentation. If the developer Team Cherry dropped a trailer tomorrow in the middle of the day, half the internet would stop what they are doing to go watch. So anyway, now that we’ve got that covered, let’s talk about this.

To watch the direct, head to Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel, where the livestream page is already up and running. Of course, it will just be a static image until the stream starts at 7:00AM PT, but it’s still good to be prepared.

What can we expect from this 30-minute Nintendo showcase? We already know that there will be nothing about the next console during this presentation, which makes sense given the upcoming plans. That likely also means we won’t be hearing about any unannounced titles, like that new Mario Kart shown in the reveal trailer. Nintendo will want to save that to promote the new console. Though it is notable that this appears to be a true Nintendo Direct, not a Partner Showcase, meaning we should receive news on at least a few first-party Nintendo games.

The first game that comes to mind is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. This is currently the biggest first-party game Nintendo has on the schedule. There’s definitely a lot of exciting games they are saving for post April 2nd, but Metroid, along with Pokémon Legends: Z-A , has been confirmed for the original Switch. It would be odd if there were any major unknown Nintendo titles involving Mario, The Legend of Zelda, or anything of that caliber tomorrow, rather than sometime during or after the Switch 2 presentation.

This Direct is the last direct of the Nintendo Switch 1 era, but despite that significance, it does feel like it will be the appetizer before next week’s dinner. My best guess is that this Direct will have a quick update on Metroid Prime 4, maybe a release date, along with mostly third-party updates and a remake or two. Maybe some time will be spent celebrating the legacy of the first Nintendo Switch. Ultimately, if you have high hopes for this Direct, they might be misplaced. There could be a surprise or two, and probably a few exciting games for each person, but this Direct isn’t going to bring the house down.
