We cannot forget that behind great development studios there are also great people. Many would argue, though, that companies that were once legendary, like Blizzard Entertainment, have strayed from their ways. However, their founding fathers are still hard at work, inspiring younger generations. Mike Morhaime, who is behind Dreamhaven publishing studio, helps promoting smaller titles that would otherwise slip our attention. After productions like Lynked Banner of the Spark, Sunderfolk, and taking care of Mechabellum, the time has come for Wildgate. What is different about the last of the mentioned games is the fact that it’s purely multiplayer with no singleplayer component. Due to that, a lot of fans wonder whether it supports crossplay that would widely expand the playerbase. Here you will know all there is about cross-platform capabilities of Wildgate.

Is crossplay supported in Wildgate?

When it comes to ship-managing games, no matter how we look at it, Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones cannot be considered a success, and in that niche, already well-known Sea of Thieves fares a lot better. To be able to compete with that title, a strong backing is needed, and hence Mike Morhaime encouraged players to give Wildgate a shot during its test period (yes, this game is still about ships, though in space). Since this is a less popular game that relies solely on multiplayer and is a premium, paid product, players are curious if there will be enough adversaries to keep it alive. Let’s face it, no one wants to see another Concord. Thus, asking if Wildgate has crossplay implemented is a valid question.

The short answer is, fortunately, yes. The launch of Wildgate is mildly successful, gathering quite a respectful number of players (via SteamDB), especially having in mind that Dreamhaven is just starting their publishing journey. The game itself is solid, according to early Steam reviews, but being online focused, its longevity can be put into question. This is where crossplay can help greatly, expanding the possible player pool. Fortunately, the developers from Moonshot Games have thought about that and included crossplay in their title.

If at any point you’ll encounter issues with finding people to play with, or you would simply like to chat with likeminded players, the best place to start looking is Wildgate’s official Discord server.

Additionally, if pirate theme is something up your alley, especially connected with space like in Disney’s Treasure Planet animation from 2002, you should have your eyes peeled to another production – Davy x Jones. This is a game scheduled for 2026 that can take you for an amazing adventure, just like the previous fairy-tale themed title, Blacktail, from The Parasight studio did. Have fun!
