Minecraft Snapshot 21w20a Pacifies Llamas

Minecraft has received snapshot 21w20a. Just as one of the previous snapshots introduced more aggressive goats, this time Mojang has made the peaceful llamas no longer spit on players (so often).

Another week means another snapshot for Minecraft with news from the Caves & Cliffs update. Snapshot 21w20a is now available for owners of the Java Edition, as usual, through the Installations section. As always, we would like to remind you that playing with the snapshot enabled may cause you to lose your worlds. Therefore, it is recommended to run these sessions from a separate folder or make a backup copy of your creations.

Two weeks ago, Mojang made screaming goats much more likely to attack nearby characters than their "silent" counterparts. Now, as if to balance things out, the developers have taken on non-aggressive llamas. Until now, the pets had a tendency to spit on player avatars, even when they (the llamas) were undisturbed. Now, in peaceful mode, llamas are actually less likely to "fire" than their angry cousins.

Aside from this all-important change, snapshot 21w20a has expanded the powers of the GUI narrator (the graphical user interface that appears when you interact with certain blocks) and modified the rooted ground (from now on, you'll get dangling roots when you use a hoe on it) and axolotls (which will no longer pretend to be dead on land). The devs also fixed a minor glitch from last week and now on geodes are really less frequent than before. Speaking of fixes, the patch has removed quite a few bugs, including another one from over eight years ago. This is the MC-610 bug: incorrect distribution of grass, flowers, and snow on freshly created "chunks" (chunks are pieces of the game world measuring 16x16x256 blocks).

As you can see, we received another modest snapshot without any major novelties. The items removed a week ago - candles, purses and sculk sensors - have not been restored, nor has it been announced why they were withdrawn from testing. The release of the Caves &aliffs Update (or at least the first part) is scheduled for the summer.
