More Batman Animations Inbound

Next year there will be as many as four new animated movies from the DC universe. Two of them will be an adaptation of The Long Halloween, one of the most famous Batman stories.

IN A NUTSHELL
  1. Next year, fans of superhero animation from the DC universe will receive four productions.
  2. They will be Batman: Soul of the Dragon, Justice Society: World War II and a two-part movie adaptation of the iconic story called The Long Halloween.

The virtual edition of DC FanDome event, which took place last weekend, stirred a lot of excitement among people who are looking forward to the movies based on comic books from DC publishing house. During the event we could see trailers and teasers of such productions as Wonder Woman 1984, The Batman, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad or Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson. However, these are only live-action titles, and it should not be forgotten that the DC universe is also famous for its numerous animated adaptations prepared by Warner Bros. Animation. Next year promises to be very good for their lovers. As many as four new animated features have been announced, in which we will see well-known superheroes (via IGN).

New animations with Batman in the lead role are inbound.

The first of these animations is Batman: Soul of the Dragon. It will be an original story set in the 1970s. It was produced by Bruce Timm, co-creator of the legendary Batman: The Animated Series. As Bruce Wayne/Batman we will hear David Giuntoli.

The second of the four animations from the DC universe planned for next year is Justice Society: World War II. This is another original story, whose action, as the title suggests, will focus on the theme of World War II. The premiere is scheduled for spring 2021.

Batman: Soul of the Dragon shouldn't lack spectacular fights.

As far as the third and fourth of these titles are concerned, they will be a two-part adaptation of The Long Halloween. This is a title that will surely make the hearts of many Batman fans skip a beat. The story written by Joseph Loeb and published for the first time as a comic book miniseries between 1996 and 1997 is considered iconic today. It focuses on the struggle of Batman, still at the beginning of his career, with a mysterious murderer named Holiday, attacking only on holidays. In the background we have the mafia and a whole plethora of well-known villains headed by Joker. In addition to the well-crafted criminal thread, The Long Halloween can also boast a very interesting characterization of the district attorney Harvey Dent, who was still before his transformation into Two Face. His rendition proposed by Loeb became one of the inspirations for Christopher and Jonathan Nolan in the 2008 The Dark Knight (via Polygon).

Of course, the question remains whether the creators of the animated version of The Long Halloween will manage to convey the specific, dark atmosphere and complexity of the comic book original, or whether they will get a little lost as in the case of the animated version of another iconic story, The Killing Joke. We'll see about that next year. The first part of the movie will be released in summer and the second part in fall.

How will the animated adaptation of The Long Halloween turn out?

Last but not least, DC animation enthusiasts will receive something special this fall - an animated version of the famous Death in the Family. However, it will not be a simple adaptation. During the screening we will be able to influence the fate of the characters. You will find more details about it in this news.
