No Man's Sky NEXT update resurrects the game with increased player activity and tons of positive reviews

After a huge update called NEXT, No Man's Sky is coming back to life. 13 times more space-conquerors have been enjoying the game for the past few days than for the past 2 years. And Hello Games isn't stopping there.

You shall fight in the fields, you shall fight on planets, you shall fight in space…

No Man's Sky is back in action. After the big NEXT update brought in multiplayer, third-person-perspective, and a handful of graphical and gameplay improvements, the work of Hello Games finally seems to pay off with NMS reaching 8th place on the Steam Charts. There are almost 40,000 people conquering space right now. Until July 25, it was 3 thousand on average. It appears that Hello Games reached for the stars – and caught them.

Such rating puts No Man's Sky above ARK: Survival Evolved and just below Team Fortress 2. But the game’s popularity is measured not only in active players, but also in positive reviews. In the last 30 days, a total of 3,500 players said they would recommend the game. 84% of these positive reviews were related to the NEXT update.

…and with friends having your back, surrender is not an option.

It is a remarkable achievement. For a game that became one of the Steam’s top hated titles shortly after its release two years ago, it is now making its way towards balancing the positive-negative review ratio, which is currently 43% to 57%. Perhaps it’s finally time to give Hello Games a credit, and No Man’s Sky – a shot. Especially since the game is currently 50% off on Steam.
