No More Nudity on Twitch. Website Introduces New Rules

Twitch has updated the rules on nudity and pornography on streams. The new recommendations are more detailed, and not following them will result in the deletion of content or blocking your account.

Twitch is introduces stricter rules on nudity.

Twitch has been the most popular video game streaming platform for years (no, not like Google Stadia), but, as usual, it has its problems. One of the oldest are stream, which - to put it mildly - attracted people more interested in watching the streamer in a suggestive outfit (or even without it) than playing. The website introduced first restrictions back in 2014, but apparently they turned out to be too vague. Twitch posted updated guidelines on nudity and pornography, which are quite detailed.

So far, the website's recommendations have been limited to generalizations such as "wearing an outfit suitable for public places". All this has remained unchanged, but there are also much more precise comments. For example, the website stresses that the entire region "from the waist to the end of the pelvis and buttocks" is to be covered with non-transparent clothing so as not to show even the outline of genitals. The same applies to show the "bottom of the bust" and nipples, but there are no additional restrictions on cleavage. These and other rules also apply to VR avatars and cosplay, but there are some exceptions (for example in case of swimming or breastfeeding). Of course, the restrictions also apply to the games themselves, so streaming any 18+ productions is not allowed.

Such specific recommendations may be funny, but on the other hand, even an ongoing pandemic proves that some people simply cannot understand not only the suggestions but also a direct ban on some things. This also does not mean that Twitch is going to completely abandon content for adults only. The platform is working on a way to filter out content unsuitable for younger audiences, but this is a matter of the future. For the time being, those who do not comply with the new rules have to reckon with having their content deleted or even temporary or permanent bans on their account.
