This August, PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim three free games: one dark fantasy adventure, a zombie survival game, and an anime arena fighter.
Today, PlayStation has revealed the three new games available for PlayStation Plus this August via the PlayStation Blog. This is also the last opportunity to grab the free games available for July. These games are available to every tier of the subscription, Essential, Extra, and Premium, so these are not part of the game catalog, only offered to the higher tiers. This summer, PlayStation Plus is also celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, which means you’ll get access to some free anniversary icons from classic game franchises.
These three games are available for free starting August 5th. All you have to do is log in to your PlayStation Plus account and claim the titles at no extra cost. They are not part of the game catalogue service, so there’s no pressure to play them immediately before they leave the service; they will just become part of your game library. But if you wait until September, you will have missed your chance to claim them. Here are the three games you can claim next week:
Take on the role of an unexpected character in this dark fantasy action game from developer Round8 Studio. Lies of P is an adaptation of the story of Pinocchio; you play as the titular character, fighting through a city overrun with killer puppets, searching for Geppetto. Swap out your Legion Arm for various powers and abilities and utilize an array of weaponry to take on frightening foes. For fans of challenging souls-like action games, Lies of P might be one of the better alternatives to FromSoftware that has been released in recent years. Unfortunately, this version does not appear to include the recently released DLC, Lies of P: Overture, but if you have been waiting for a chance to try this title, this is still a great opportunity. Lies of P will be available in both PS5 and PS4 versions.
The popular multiplayer zombie survival game, DayZ, left early access in 2018, but has been around a lot longer than that. Now, anyone who’s been thinking about jumping into this unforgiving massively multiplayer title has an opportunity to claim it via PS Plus. This version “includes the original iconic map of Chernarus and Livonia – the dense 163 km2 map which lets players experience the hardcore survival hit in a whole new environment.” Be careful, because in DayZ, when you die, you must start over completely. Only the PS4 version of DayZ will be available.
Finally, this August, PS Plus subscribers will also be able to claim My Hero One’s Justice 2, the My Hero Academia 3D arena fighter from 2020. This game follows the story of the anime, picking up with the first game left off around season four of the show. On one hand, this could be a fun way to experience the beloved anime characters in a fighting game context, or it could be a great way for fans of the show to revisit the story from a new perspective. Either way, the PS4 version of My Hero One’s Justice 2 will be available to claim to PS Plus subscribers on August 5th, along with the other games on this list.
