If you’re looking for the answer to “wind instrument commonly used in jazz,” keep reading. Another round of Buzzwords in Cookie Jam is here, and we’ve got you covered.
This weekend’s Buzzwords in Cookie Jam came from all sorts of topics. “Furry friends that wag their tails,” “flour comes from this,” or “mix of black and white” were a breeze for me. But “pictures that show data,” “edible flower bud,” and “you set up a tent in nature here” had me stumped for a bit. Same with “wind instrument commonly used in jazz”, that one took me a while, but I finally cracked it. So here’s the answer.
Just when I thought I was in the clear after tackling “prank or magic,” and “brown fruit with a sweet and sour taste”, which were pretty tricky, this next one popped up. It’s always the long words that stress me out, like I’m going to misspell something or accidentally tap the wrong letter. And on top of that, you have to play through a bunch of rounds just to get the full answer. So without further ado, here it is:
There are tons of instruments tied to jazz, but let’s be real – when most people think of jazz, the saxophone is probably the first thing that comes to mind. Sure, other wind instruments like the clarinet or flute show up too, but the sax always takes the spotlight. Then you've got the trumpet and trombone (those are brass), plus the double bass, piano and a solid drum set.
That combo – winds, brass, rhythm – is the heart of jazz. But take the saxophone out of the picture, and something just feels missing. It’s not just an instrument in jazz; it’s the voice of the genre.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
