Ranged Combat Update for Bannerlord Improves Bows and More
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will receive an update that will improve the gameplay, especially ranged combat, and introduce some new features.
TaleWorlds, the studio responsible for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, has published a video, in which the developers present the content of the upcoming update. This one focuses primarily on the changes in the use of ranged weapons. What will the update bring?
Currently, all of the ranged weapons available in the game function in exactly the same way. The developers want to make the choice of these weapons more meaningful, so they are working on making each of the more unique. For example, a short bow will be drawn faster and will allow a longer aiming time, while a long bow will be drawn longer, the aiming time will be shorter, but it will do more damage. Changes will apply to all ranged weapons available in the game, not only bows (including crossbows and throw weapons). The catapult will also be able to fire several smaller projectiles instead of one big one.
But this is not the end of novelties and changes. An education function will be introduced to the game, which will enable us to shape our descendants and the youngest members of the clan in a way similar to creating our own character. This will enable us to control the direction of our clan's development much better over time. It is also worth to pay attention to horses, which can be mutilated or killed in combat.
The changes will also include the prisoner recruitment system. It will be made more difficult - recruiting prisoners will result in lowering the party's morale. However, the creators plan to introduce some bonuses which will facilitate this process and reduce the penalty.
Moreover, the developers are preparing a new circular menu, which would make the game easier for players using gamepads. There will also be a feature that enables us to track our party on the map.
The release date of the update remains unknown. Let us recall that Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord debuted on March 30, 2020 and is still in the early access phase. The full version of the game is expected to be released in spring 2021.
