Resident Evil 4 Remake Inbound? Fans Spotted a Clue During PlayStation Showcase

During the recent PlayStation Showcase, we saw announcements of many titles. It's possible that a remake of Resident Evil 4 was also „announced” in a non-obvious way.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. During the PlayStation Showcase we've seen references to a number of games, including Resident Evil 4;
  2. Some fans see this easter egg as an announcement of the remake of the fourth installment of the legendary survival horror game series;
  3. The refreshed version of Resident 4 has been speculated for a long time.

Resident Evil 4 is considered to be one of the best representatives of the survival horror genre. For some time there has been speculation that Capcom may be working on a remake of the 2005 production. Another source of rumors and considerations is an easter egg that was spotted during the PlayStation Showcase, more specifically, during the Play Has No Limits presentation.

The easter egg was probably first reported by user CoronaBeer51, who shared his discovery on Reddit. At one point in the footage he spotted the logo of Los Illuminatos from RE4 - a symbol alluding to Las Plagas. If you want to see for yourself, you can pause the video at 1:33 and look near the opening front door:

The mere inclusion of the Las Plagas symbol doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it can be assumed that the show's writers were confident that fans would quickly discover the symbols hidden in the movie and correctly read their meaning. Resident Evil 4 is not the only game referenced in Play Has No Limits. Reddit users dwere busy and quickly found all (or most; something may still be hiding) of the references. Among the easter eggs discovered were references to Hogwarts Legacy, Final Fantasy XVI, Alan Wake, as well as another series that has conquered the hearts of horror fans - Silent Hill.

Placing the symbol from RE4 may, however, tease a bigger announcement. After all, recently an interesting tweet referring to the fourth installment appeared on the official Twitter of the series, which coincides with the rumors of the remake. In addition, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the first installment of Resident Evil. It is possible that one of the forms of celebrating this anniversary will be a refreshed version of the game by many considered to be the best part of the brand. Not to mention the fact that remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were quite successful. Perhaps the time has come for the fourth installment.
