Resident Evil Movie Will Feature Cast Full of Famous Faces

A new movie adaptation of Resident Evil is being created. The movie will not be associated with previous adaptations and will be more faithful to Capcom's survival horror game series.

As discovered by Deadline, Constantin Film studio is planning a movie adaptation of Resident Evil. It will be a reboot, unrelated to the popular series of films starring Milla Jovovich. Johannes Roberts, known for the 47 Meters Down movie series, is responsible for the script and direction of the new adaptation.

The film is to be much more faithful to Capcom's games than previous adaptations. The production will be set in 1998 in Racoon City. Roberts wants to recreate the atmosphere of horror, known from the first two installments of Resident Evil, and a large part of the story will take place in the Spencer residence, known from the games.

We also got to know the cast. There is no shortage of familiar faces:

  1. Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) as Claire Redfield
  2. Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield
  3. Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine
  4. Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker
  5. Avan Yoga (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy
  6. Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin

It is not yet known when the movie will hit the cinemas. Screen Gems (USA), Constantin Film (German-speaking territories), Elevation (Canada), Metropolitan (France) and Sony Pictures International (other markets) will be responsible for the distribution.

It is worth recalling that the movie is only one of several adaptations of the brand that are currently under development. Netflix is planning two other installments. The live-action series will tell the story of sister Jade and Billie Wesker, and its action will start when they move to Racoon City as teenagers. The CGI show Resident Evil Infinite Darkness will present the story of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
