EA to Release Big Game Before April 2023, but Won't Say Which

Electronic Arts is preparing a major launch for early 2023. Is it sequel to the Star Wars game from Respawn Entertainment, or another title?

Electronic Arts is preparing an undisclosed major release for early 2023. Such information was included in publisher's latest financial report. Previously, the game was mentioned in, among other things. summary of the 2022 fiscal year.

In the document summarizing the second quarter of fiscal 2023, there are no clues as to what the game might be about. However, unofficial information from last year suggests that it may be Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - sequel to Fallen Order by Respawn Entertainment.

The debut of the new Jedi in 2023 was mentioned by EA itself at the announcement of the game. Later, there were leaks suggesting that the title will be released later this fiscal year, i.e. on March 31, 2023 at the latest. Such information was found in the PlayStation Network database, and journalist Jeff Grubb several times pointed to such a release date (most recently on October 20 during the Game Mess Mornings podcast).

It is also worth recalling the 2021 leak from the GeForce Now service. In addition to many named titles, the list included an "unannounced Respawn game." We can guess that it was about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

However, it cannot be ruled out that it is about a completely different production. It's unlikely to be revealed any time soon. Andrew Wilson, president of EA, during the recent investor call mentioned changes in the industry related to marketing, which - in the shortest terms - is supposed to translate into more "precise dates" in which titles will be revealed.

As an example of such a move, Wilson cited the surprise debut of Apex Legends, a game announced and released on the same day. Whether it will be the same with the next game - we will find out in the coming months.
