Some Steam Deck Owners Report Stick Drift [UPDATED]

Steam Deck has only been available for a short time, but some people are already reporting problems with drifting sticks.

Update

Valve has issued an official statement regarding the stick drift issue. Steam Deck designer Lawrence Yung spoke out on the subject on Twitter.

Original message

Steam Deck debuted on February 25 and the first users have already received the device. The real lucky ones got theirs from Valve's CEO Gabe Newell himself.

The new portable computer is a great device, having an incredibly high power for its dimensions. But while it's a great piece of hardware, the launch hasn't been without some problems - some gamers are already struggling with stick drift.

Steam Deck and drifting analogs

On Reddit we see first reports of problems concerning stick drifting Not sure if it's a coincidence, but most of the users complaining about this problem are noticing it on the right side of the device.

Perhaps this is due to a manufacturing defect in some part of Steam Decks or just bad luck of the buyers - it's hard to say for now. Only the first batch of devices was shipped, so it's not out of the question that there could be defective pieces.

If you have any problems with your Steam Deck, it's best to seek help from Valve. The company does not recommend experimenting with the device yourself and advises leaving it to the professionals.

Production of Steam Decks

Lawrence Yang, the designer of the device, has very positive news regarding its manufacturing. He said Valve anticipates that within two months of market availability, hundreds of thousands of Decks will come off the production line .

"In the first month we will very quickly reach a number of tens of thousands, and in the second - several hundred thousand. After this period, in turn, sales will grow even faster."

It is certainly good news that the handheld will be able to reach all players willing to buy it. Although let's hope that the next deliveries will be devoid of defective pieces.
