Store's Code Suggests PS5 Pre-orders Will Allow Only One Unit per Account?

The source code of PlayStation Direct contains a message that only one PS5 unit can be purchased. Does Sony intend to introduce limits on pre-orders of the device?

PS5 is expected to launch at the end of the year
IN A NUTSHELL:
  • A fragment of the PlayStation Direct store's website source code may suggest that the number of PS5 consoles in the cart will be limited to one unit.

The pre-orders of PlayStation 5 consoles will be launched soon, and many stores are already prepared. There are some changes in PlayStation Direct as well. Though what's in the page code may make you wonder. There is a fragment that may suggest that we can only order one PS5 per account (or order).

A piece of code was "discovered" on ResetEra forum. The information about the possibility of buying only one console is to be displayed when the user tries to add more copies to the basket. I checked it myself and there is actually such a term in the source of the store's website, as shown in the picture below.

The question remains, however, whether the provided code will actually be used. Because the mere presence of such a fragment in the source does not mean that we will be able to buy only one device. The appearance of a message (i.e. execution of an instruction) may depend on many other factors, e.g. database, other scripts, client's region.

However, if PS Direct store will actully use such purchase restriction, I don't know how effective it will be. After all, we can buy the console from another account. It's just a minor difficulty for various "merchants" trying to get bulk quantities. Well, what can we do? As some mechanics say - "drive and observe", that is to wait for the actual start of pre-orders, which will be announced by Sony.
