The Ascent Conquers Steam; Tribes of Midgard With Good Launch
In the past week, New World did not give up its position as the leader in sales on Steam. Despite this, the devs of The Ascent and Tribes of Midgard have reasons to be happy - both titles recorded a very good launch.
- Pre-orders of New World continue to sell like hot cakes;
- Impressive debuts of The Ascent and Tribes of Midgard;
- Deal on Battlefield 1 has been very popular.
As it does every Monday, Valve released a list of of last week's biggest bestsellers on Steam (by revenue). For the second time in a row, the first two positions were taken by two different releases of New World. The game is only available for pre-order, but players are buying it en masse to secure access to closed beta testing.
In third place was the debut of the cyberpunk action RPG The Ascent. The game is not only selling very well, but was warmly received. On Steam 79% of user reviews praise this title, which the service categorizes as a "mostly positive reception". The game's high scores are all the more impressive given that it is also available in Game Pass. As you can see, many people prefer to own it on Steam, which is probably helped by the fact that the Steam version is clearly technically superior.
Last week was generally good for new titles. The fourth place was taken by the co-op game Tribes of Midgard. Yesterday it achieved an impressive activity record of 30,930 players. The top ten also included July launches of Orcs Must Die! 3 and Mini Motorways.
After a long absence Battlefield 1 returned to the list, thanks to a very attractive (and still ongoing) deal enabling us to purchase the game with all DLCs for only $5, which means an 88% discount.
