We know the cast of The Long Night, spin-off to Game of Thrones

Among the actors and actresses to appear in a new project set in Westeros and Essos, we will see faces known from Star Wars, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Black Mirror and Chronicles of Narnia.

We are only months away from the grand finale of the Game of Thrones – the emission of the last season will begin in April 2019. HBO does not intend to say goodbye to its greatest hit in recent years and has been working on spin-offs of fantasy shows for some time now. Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we've learned the cast of the first of them, titled The Long Night.

Naomi Watts will play the role of a charismatic, respected character hiding a dark secret.

Naomi Watts (known from e.g. Mulholland Drive, the American Remake of The Ring and the new Twin Peaks) and Joseph Whitehouse (Poldark), about whose participation in the project has been known for a long time, were joined by eight other names. And so, in The Long Night we will see Naomi Ackie (which will also appear in the ninth episode of Star Wars), Denise Gough (she appeared in Colette and in the Guerilla series), Jamie Campbell Bower (Twilight, Sweeney Todd, Camelot series), Sheila Atim (Bounty Hunters series), Ivanno Jeremiah (Black Mirror and Humans series), Georgie Henley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Alex Sharp (Up to the Bone) and Toby Regbo (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).

The Long Night action will take place five thousand years before the events presented in The Game of Thrones. So far, we have learned only a very general outline of the production, which sounds as follows:

Only one thing is certain: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.

Shooting the series will start in February. HBO ordered only the pilot episode, but considering the buzz around the production, the creation of a full season is almost certain. The originators of the production are Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin – the former is also the showrunner. The pilot episode will be directed by S.J. Clarkson, who previously worked, among others, on Jessica Jones and Succession.
