WHATEVER is a Game Inspired by the Ship That Got Stuck in the Suez Canal

If you browse Early Access on Steam you could recently come across an interesting title. The player's task is to direct a cargo ship in such a way that it does not get stuck on its route. The game is inspired by events that took place in the Suez Canal a few months ago.

In March this year, the whole world watched an unusual event that occurred in the Suez Canal, when a large container ship Ever Given got stuck in the narrow pass, almost completely paralyzing maritime transport in the region. The game WHATEVER will enable us recreate similar situations - the task of players will be to sail through the narrow channels in such a way as not to share the fate of the ill-fated Ever Given.

And while this task doesn't seem particularly difficult, remember that you're at the helm of a huge container ship, and steering an object of such weight is no mean feat, especially since WHATEVER emphasizes playing with physics, using such factors as the force of inertia, which can sweep your ship from shore to shore as you try to avoid all terrain obstacles. Not to mention the fact that you will also enounter things like... UFOs and kaiju.

The game's official page on Steam states that WHATEVER is the work of a single person - Napas Torteeki. As the creator writes:

"Remember that ship? Ever wonder how that possible or how hard it is to pilot that thing through the canal? Well, me too! WHATEVER is my attempt to answer that questions and fulfill my curiosity.

You will cry and finally realized how amazing every cargo ship's captain is.

BECAUSE IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO PILOT THAT !$@%!$# 200,000 TONNE CARGO SHIP WITH THEIR EXTREME INERTIA THROUGH THE CANAL!"

Currently WHATEVER can be found exclusively on PC in Early Access on Steam, where it will soon be ready for download. The planned release date is not yet known, but as the author himself admits, the game will remain in Early Access for about 2 - 3 years.
