Living Open-world RPG in the Pipeline; Devs Call it Pixel-art Skyrim

Studio 81monkeys is working on a game described as a pixel-art Skyrim. World of Anterra is an RPG with a huge open world and tons of activities.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • 81monkeys studio is working on an RPG World of Anterra, described as a pixel-art Skyrim.
  • The game will enable us to explore a vast world full of surprises.
  • The game will also enable us to freely shape the storyline.

Independent studio 81monkeys is working on a unique RPG that may appeal to you if you are looking forward to the new The Elder Scrolls. The developers themselves describe World of Anterra as a pixel-art Skyrim and you have to admit that this is quite an apt description.

Mini Skyrim

World of Anterra is an isometric RPG that is expected to focus on the gameplay elements that players have come to love with Skyrim. So we are dealing with a game that will first of all offer us a large, vivid and full of surprises world to explore.

The map presented on the trailer suggests that after launching the game we will be able to explore many lands, both on the continent and the surrounding islands. In turn, the individual locations are diverse and filled with NPCs and dangerous enemies.

During our travels, we will perform numerous quests that will move the plot forward. However, the developers will offer us a lot of freedom in shaping it, as befits a good RPG. So we can count on many opportunities to make choices affecting the surrounding world.

In addition, the game will feature a crafting system and survival elements. We will collect resources, hunt, fish and build. All these mechanics, as well as other gameplay elements, are to be a combination of modern and classic solutions.

Developers ask for support

World of Anterra is being developed by the Canadian studio 81monkeys. It is not a well-known team, as it has so far produced only two small mobile games. However, it includes a number of industry veterans who boast a lot of experience.

Still, there is no denying that we are talking about a tiny studio with a limited budget. So the developers decided to launch a fundraiser on Kickstarter. Currently, they have already raised almost 73 thousand canadia dollars, which is over half of the target amount. If you would also like to support them, the collection can be found here.

World of Anterra is coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. On PC, the game will be available for purchase via Steam or GOG. The title is scheduled for release in 2023.
