Secret Mounts From WoW Dragonflight Found

WoW players are busy. Fans have already managed to find more secret mounts: a stylish otter and a magma slug.

Sometimes it takes many months or even years to discover the secrets of some video games. However, in the era of the ubiquitous Internet, persistent gamers usually need much less time. The secret mount from WoW: Dragonflight was found in less than a month thanks to the efforts of Internet users gathered around the WoW Secret Finding & Collections Discord channel.

Otto - an otter with style

Otto is one of the many mounts added in the latest World of Warcraft expansion, but there are two reasons why it is of particular interest to the fans. This is largely due to the fact that it is one of the secret mounts to be found in the Dragon Islands, requiring unrevealed actions to be performed.

However, no less important is the fact that Otto is... a giant otter. True, there's quite a lot of so-called ottuks are in the game, including combat specimens and a flying one straight from the afterlife. Nevertheless, Otto stands out not only in terms of features - it also has a little secret (which you will read about later in the text).

WoW Dragonflight - how to find Otto?

To become the owner of Otto, it is necessary to use the services of the frog trader named The Great Swog. The amphibian (coordinates 81, 72) only accepts coins from the Dragon Islands, which we acquire by fishing. Not very intuitive, but that's the way it goes with secrets, not just in WoW.

To fish (and coin)

Tempic098 reports that it's best to join a raid group and go to the fishing hole located in The Waking Shore region (65.62, 74.10), not far from where the so-called Lunkers appear. These are caught with a harpoon, which increases the chances of getting the Ominous Conch item.

When we get five such shells, we can use them to summon the Gigantic Thresher, which has a comparable chance of leaving behind Dragon Islands coins. We repeat this until we collect 5 gold coins or - more likely - their equivalent (25 silver or 75 copper ones).

Dance until you drop

If we already have enough currency, we go to the merchant frog and buy Aquatic Shades. Thus equipped, we can visit the Obsidian Citadel in Waking Shores. Behind it we find the Dive Bar (19.4 36.3), we put on the acquired goggles and.... enter the water dance mat, only to "die" after five minutes of crazy stunts and being moved to a cave with an empty fish barrel.

The voracious (and stylish) otter

After getting this item, another fishing session awaits us. This time we need to catch one Kingfish, 25 Calamitous Carp and as much as 100 (!) Frosty Swimmers.

According to Tempic098, the latter are best looked for near Iskaara Village in the Azure Span region. The carp, on the other hand, will be caught in the lava near the Obsidian Citadel (33.67, 64.75), and Kingfin will be encountered near Mount Thaldraszus, near Algeth'ar Academy.

Once we have filled the entire barrel, we return with it to the cave and put it back where we found it (20,2 39,6). After that, Otto will appear and become our mount.

Otto also has his own easter egg. If you mount it with Aquatic Shades on, the otter will appear with its own glasses. Apparently, animals really do resemble their owners.

Azeroth without secrets

Otto's riddle is no more complicated than the secrets of Azeroth already known. For example, the mystery of Jenafur, the search for whom took almost a year, and even that was achieved only thanks to the clues from the devs. Or the mystery of the nightmare mount (vide Wowhead).

Nevertheless, it may be surprising that fans manage to work out these easter eggs. This is, of course, thanks to the many, sometimes even thousands of players who organize brainstorms on social media (and especially on the WoW Secrets Discord channel) and scour Azeroth far and wide in the game for more clues.

Then there's the random element. It can take a long time to collect enough Dragon Island coins if you're not lucky enough when fishing. So it's hardly surprising, that most WoW players are glad that a group of enthusiasts spared them the effort (and probably nerves) that would have been required to search for Otto on their own.

A snail faster than an otter?

Otto is not the only mount hiding in the Dragon Islands. Players have also worked out a way of unlocking the snail called Magmashell. Here, too, a bit of luck will get you far, though for different reasons (via Wowhead).

  1. In the Waking Shores region, we kill Lavaslurpers near the lava river until one drops an Empty Magma Shell. Alternatively, we buy it at the auction house, although it is unlikely to be cheap.
  2. We go with it to the location with the large lava tank (71.2, 25.4) and find the Empowered Snail. We have to keep interacting with it for 20 seconds (until recently 10), so you'd better prepare yourself to be able to survive at least that long in the hot lava (for example, by taking a friend with healing abilities or the Everlasting Horn of Lavaswimming).

These two steps are enough to become the owner of Magmashell.
