Resident Evil 2: How to defeat or avoid Tyrant?

The Tyrant will chase you around the police station.

The Tyrant in Resident Evil 2 is an immortal monster that starts chasing you around the Raccoon City police station after you return from the police park to the building and dealing with the burning helicopter - the vehicle blocks a passage which means that this step is mandatory. The Tyrant is extremely dangerous: his attacks deal a lot of damage and when he grabs you, he will kill you with one hit (even when your character has full health). The only way to avoid getting killed is to counterattack (by using a knife/grenade).

A weakened Tyrant will kneel and leave you for a moment.

• You can't eliminate the Tyrant. You can only stop him for a moment - shoot him a few times in the head (this is his only weak spot). When the Tyrant kneels, you have about a minute until he will start chasing you again.
• The Tyrant will also chase Leon while he is in the Nest (Umbrella's laboratory). However, he will do that only for a moment - he stops chasing Leon after he finds the wristband that gives him level III permission. Also, the Tyrant won't leave the laboratory's eastern wing.
• You can solve the remaining optional puzzles at the station without being chased by the Tyrant - the sewers have a secret passage that leads to the police station. Use it, and you won't find the Tyrant on the police station.
• In "2nd Run" mode, the Tyrant chases you right from the start.
