The following page features the initial part of your visit in the Kuwaq Yaku village in Shadow of the Tomb Raider (continuation of the Where the Twins Confer mission). Lara's main task in this mission is to reach the ruins end prospect them (the Path of the Living quest), once again with the lack of cooperation from the members of Trinity.
Reaching the ruins
The Kuwaq Yaku village is a large location, offering numerous side activities. In addition to finding secrets, crypts, and tombs, you can also get some information from the NPCs, as well as take on your first side mission (Deal with the Pillagers - walkthrough can be found in a dedicated chapter of our guide), and visit your first vendor, where you can buy and sell various items.
The story requires you to reach the ruins located north of the village. Upon entering them you will see a cut-scene, after which you can proceed.
Reaching the dig site
Exit the large building and jump into the water after you see the temple looming in the distance. Lara will come close to a Trinity outpost in the docks, but before you reach it, you'll need to dive and squeeze yourself between damaged planks.
The new area will enable you to avoid your enemies by diving beneath them. But you may as well use this opportunity to take them down by surprise. The best moment to grab them is when they stop on the edge of water (see the picture). If you're spotted you'll have to rely on the rifle you've recently acquired and take on the enemies aggressively, as there is not much decent cover in this area.
The next location you'll visit is the mercenary camp, with only a single path leading to it. Begin with locating an area with lots of mud (see the picture). Interact with it to cover Lara in natural camo. It will make the character more difficult to detect by letting her better merge with the environment.
The enemies in the neighboring locations should preferably be take out by surprise. Locate isolated mercenaries and either perform a take down, or shoot them with the bow. Some of the enemies may stand close to each other, so use throwing objects to divert their attention.
Having secured the area, find the door leading to the oil shaft, shown on the picture. You'll need to pry them open with the climbing axe. Jump on the climbing wall, use the axe, and rappel down into the cave.
