The above map presents the first set of locations that you visit in the asylum, i.e. the lobby, the Women's Ward and the Men's Ward. Also, it is worth adding here that exploration of the Men's Ward is optional, but you should not ignore it, anyways, because you will find a lot of loot and documents there.
