Words of Power are one of the most important collectibles in Alan Wake 2. They appear in sequences in which we play as the title writer and take the form of golden circles made of sequences of words. Their acquisition will enable you to unlock upgrades and bonuses thanks to which Alan will increase his chances of survival in the Dark Place.

How to mark Words of Power on the map?
While exploring the Dark Place as Alan, you will have the opportunity to encounter Tim Breaker, the sheriff of Bright Falls, in various locations. When you are near his hideout, you will hear the policeman whistling.
The friendly law enforcer will welcome you and share a handful of information as well as his prepared notes. After approaching Tim's map, markers symbolizing the collectibles in the area will be copied to Alan's map. Words of power will take the form of circles with a question mark inside. Tips of this kind will help you in the search for the desired treasures.
Word of Power near Casey's body.
The first Word of Power can be found right after Casey dies, shortly after escaping from the TV studio. After taking the revolver and flashlight from the dead man, use the lamp to absorb the light from the alley. You will see a passage through which you can get to the building. Yellow glowing arrows will show you the way. The Word of Power is located above the door frame at the end of the hall.
To retrieve the word, shine the flashlight on it from the right angle. The obtained word can be used in the writer's room.
Word of Power next to the TV studio
The second Word of Power is hidden near the exit, which Alan used to get out of the studio. Go to Wheeler St. in the western part of the dark New York. The word is hidden by the trash cans.
Word of Power on the roof
Use the lamp to discover the stairs leading to the above-ground metro station. Cross the tracks, climb up the ladder and go up the staircase. Near the save game room you will notice arrows leading you up the stairs. On one of the roofs you will find a Word of Power between a low wall and the AC unit.
Word of Power behind the billboard
After getting to the other side of the closed fence and reaching the yellow taxi, climb the ladder leading to the billboard behind the car. Go around the advertisement using the metal scaffolding. In a dark alley you will find a Word of Power hidden on the ground between two AC units.
Word of Power near a police car
After obtaining the light from the taxi, it will turn into a police car. The surroundings have changed a bit, and you are attacked by a group of shadows. After defeating them, head to the small courtyard with columns in front of the vehicle. On one of the walls you will find a Word of Power.
Word of Power on subway construction
The Last Word of Power can be found on the lower part of the metal subway overpass. Go to Draft St, east of Caldera St. Plaza. When you look up, you will quickly find glowing arrows that will show you the location of the collectible.
Word of Power in the wagon at the Caldera station
This word is quite easy to miss. You will find it right after entering the Caldera station, if you go to the right edge of the platform. The word is written inside a wagon and you can activate it by aiming a flashlight beam through the wagon's window.
Word of Power behind the derailed wagon
You will find the collectible near a save room. Go around the destroyed subway car and stand with your back to the wall. The arrow will show you the word written on the wall supporting the tunnel ceiling.
Word of Power in the office room
The next word can be found behind the collapsed tunnel. After initiating the Missing FBI Agent cutscene, use the lamp to absorb the light in one of the side tunnels. As you enter the room behind the bars, you will find a Word of Power written on one of the walls, behind a shelf.
Word of Power on the ceiling behind the save room
After you reach the save room in the central part of the map, climb up the ladder into the tunnel, then retreat to the area covered with wooden planks. The arrows will point to a golden circle painted on the ceiling.
Word of Power hidden behind a board
Upon reaching the room with a ladder in the southern part of the map, head to the alley, where you will be guided by the yellow arrows. The Word of Power is hidden behind the board, which you can destroy with your revolver.
Word of Power over the ticket office
Upon reaching the large room with bars, head to its western part (be careful, as it is guarded by aggressive shadows). The Word of Power can be found on the wall just above the ticket counter.
Word of Power in a flooded tunnel
Upon reaching the tunnel in the southern part of the map, turn left (west). On the left wall of the flooded tunnel you will find a Word of Power.
Word of Power on the metro wagon
Passing through the subway car in the southern tunnel activates the ability to absorb light using a lamp. Do it and get out of the wagon. A Word of Power will appear on one of the walls of the adjacent train.
Word of Power next to the waiting room
This collectible is hidden in the room leading to the large waiting room in the southern part of the map. It is drawn directly on the wall.
Word of Power behind bars
The last Word of Power in the subway tunnels can be found on the wall behind the bars next to the door to the save room. It is located in a passage connecting two separated parts of the map.
Word of Power on the wall
Once you're back in the streets of the dark version of New York, head to the north end of Ocean Ave. With the Hotel on your left, look at the wall of the building on your right. You will find the next Word of Power painted on it.
Word of Power on a roof on the way to the hotel
The next word is located in the southeastern part of the roof leading to the Oceanview Hotel. Turn your back to the edge and you will see a golden circle on one of the wavy metal sheets.
Word of Power on a water tank 1
The next collectible is located a few steps further. Climb the ladder located to the left of the save room. Once you get to the upper floor of the roof, point your flashlight at the water tank nearby. The Word of Power is painted on it.
Word of Power under the stairs
The next word is a bit more hidden. To get to it, take the outside stairs to the left of the staircase above the save room. Go around the stairs and go under them (arrows will guide you). You will find the Word of Power at the bottom of the staircase structure. A little further on you'll stumble upon the Sheriff Breaker's hideout too.
Word of Power in room 224
After reaching the 2nd floor of the Oceanview Hotel, go to room 224 (use the map). Once inside, go to the TV room and then use your gun to destroy the plate in place of the door. Go under the scaffolding. In the bathroom, you will find the Word of Power in the shower.
Word of Power on the staircase
Head towards the central part of the 2nd floor of the hotel. Looking at the staircase from the south, through one of the windows you will see the Word of Power painted on the ceiling. Its activation may require some maneuvering in search of the proper angle of the flashlight's light.
Word of Power in the ballroom
Once you get to the hotel ballroom, go behind the bar counter and look up. The Word of Power will be painted on the ceiling.
Word of Power in the cinema hall
Once you arrive at the Poet's Cinema, head to the balcony above the concession stand. Use the stairs to the right of the entrance. Once you reach the top, turn around and look at the wall next to the stairs. Among the movie posters, you will find a painted Word of Power.
Word of Power in the cinema toilet
After entering the cinema, go to the toilet located to the left of the entrance. Inside you will find a door leading to the service room. Look at the ceiling. The Word of Power will be painted in the corner of the room.
Word of Power on the roof of the cinema
Head to the northern edge of the roof of the cinema building. Turn your back to the wall there and if you look slightly to the right, you will easily see the Word of Power painted on the wall.
Word of Power on the water tank 2
There is a metal water tank in the southern part of the cinema's roof. The last Word of Power is painted on its side.
