Puzzle, Fantasy, Card Games, Multiplayer, Match-3, Singleplayer.

A 3-match puzzle game, set in the universe of the famous Magic: The Gathering card game, related to the popular Puzzle Quest series by Infinite Interactive. During the game we take on the role of a Planeswalker, who, through spells and summoned creatures, fights with other adepts of magical arts. Duels come down to skillfully placing at least three elements of the same type in a row. Depending on what symbols we combine together, each match can result in, for example, casting a spell or using an object from the inventory. Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest could not, of course, do without typical elements of a card game. Thus, we collect cards during the game that represent characters, spells, artifacts, etc. Then we use them to build our own deck, which is used during a duel allows us to achieve different effects and employ different combat strategies.

Action, 2D, Indie Games, Metroidvania, Platformers, Science Fiction, Singleplayer.

A typical example of a metroidvania game. It was developed by an independent American studio Renegate Kid. The player assumes the role of a lone astronaut who is tasked with exploring the surface of four dangerous planets. Although the player can visit each planet from the beginning of the game (by using a spaceship), it is quickly revealed that, in order to reach hardly accessible places, they must first obtain various upgrades. These provide the protagonist with useful abilities like, for example, diving. Xeodrifter is strongly influenced by 8-bit games from the genre, including the first entries in the Metroid series. However, the developers included some unusual features. There is only one boss in the game – the player is fighting him many times on each planet (after some time the enemy learns new attacks and actions). Some obstacles can be bypassed by jumping between the first plane of the game and the background.

A mobile turn-based strategy game, created by the team responsible for Swap Heroes. The game is distributed in a free-to-play mode with optional microtransactions. In Swap Cops, we take control of a group of futuristic police officers, battling dangerous criminals. Our team can include twelve heroes, each having unique abilities. Similarly to Swap Heroes, the game is focused around turn-based battles with more and more powerful waves of enemies. What makes the title stand out among other turn-based games is the fact that before each round, the player can make one change in the team roster, while the heroes attack and defend themselves on their own. Despite its appearances, this automatization doesn’t make the game easy, as heroes have many unique abilities, with their positioning being an important factor. Additionally, we cannot afford any manpower losses, and each dead police officer forces us to repeat the battle. Swap Cops is a single-player only title, with online rankings being the only substitute for multiplayer mode. The game sports old-school 2D visuals, with a top-down.

As a platformer game, Viking Mushroom offers twenty-five different levels filled with opportunities to jump and climb. The player encounters large numbers of traps, enemies and collectibles as well. The titular mushrooms are significant here, for they were eaten by Scandinavian warriors in order to acquire superhuman powers, according to the tradition. The game recreates such situations, for each of many kind of mushrooms available gives access to a set of useful abilities. The game offers colorful visuals, resembling the Rayman series in this aspect. What deserves special attention is the fact that both the plot and certain gameplay mechanics are rooted deeply in the tradition of Vikings and supported by research conducted on their culture.

In the game created by Japanese developers under the aegis of FullPowerAttack.com, the player gets to control a gentleman locked in a colorful box. The trap, in which the main protagonist is locked, has a certain interesting feature – each wall has a different color and can be expanded on the outside. When properly manipulated, the box can be moved – this way, the player can use the laws of physics to solve environmental puzzles and overcome the obstacles scattered throughout fifty levels constituting the main campaign. Together with relatively straightforward gameplay mechanics, the game delivers simple controls – one has to utilize only six buttons. The visuals follow the 8-bit convention and are based on geometrical shapes.

The action of Zombie Vikings begins in the moment when the mischievous god Loki decides to steal the last, magical eye of Odin, who in turn resurrects four disgusting zombie-Vikings and tasks them with reclaiming the stolen item. In the game we can play the role of one of the four playable characters, each of which has different skills at their disposal; the skills can also be upgraded by means of special runes. The heroes can choose from a sizeable arsenal of around 40 weapon types, which are differentiated not only by their unique names but also their usage (e.g. the ability to use vomiting or chopped off heads of enemies). Zombie Vikings is filled with irrational, absurd comedy and is most enjoyable when played in local co-op mode, in which the players can combine their characters into one, giant zombie-Viking.

Worms 4 is based on the well-known set of rules - there are two or more teams of worms and players who interchangeably control individual “soldiers.” The game comes down to dealing as much damage to enemies as possible in a given time frame. Worms make use of a wide arsenal of crazy weapons and gadgets, but while using them, you need to remember about the influence of gravity and wind. Moreover, almost every environment element is destructible. In comparison to previous installments, Worms 4 introduces a few changes. As it is a mobile production, the scale of battles is reduced, the teams are smaller, and the time limit reduced. The title features new kinds of weapons and some diverse game modes, including an extensive single player campaign. Naturally, multiplayer is the backbone of the game.

Strategy, Internet, MMO, Social Networking, The Middle Ages, Free-to-play.

A mobile strategy game by Gameloft, in which we lead one of three factions and try to forge a powerful empire. In its general premise, the title doesn’t significantly deviate from the standards of other common mobile MMO strategy productions. The player’s tasks include continuous development of infrastructure, researching new technologies, raising a powerful army, and conquering other players’ territory. In March of Empire, we can assume the role of a king, a tsar, or a sultan, and the choice has a quite big influence on our starting parameters and the further course of the game. Moreover, Gameloft’s title is characterized by a slightly more developed plot and gameplay depth that is influenced by such factors as seasons or weather conditions. The tactical layer is also more extensive — in battles, we can apply various formations, each having its pros and cons. The game features rich social options and the possibility of forming alliances.

Strategy, RPG Elements, Fantasy, Internet, Multiplayer, Board & Card, Singleplayer, Turn-based.

A mobile version of the popular browser game, Card Hunter, developed by Blue Manchu and DropForge Games. The action of Loot & Legends is set in a typical fantasy land and the gameplay boils down to exploring dungeons and fighting encountered monsters. The game is divided into modules, each having a completely different, self-encompassing story. Mechanics-wise, the production combines a turn-based strategy game with elements borrowed from CCGs and board games, while the gameplay rules were designed by Richard Garfield, the creator of the popular Magic: The Gathering collectible card game. Battles are fought in turns on maps covered with a grid. While fighting, we command a several-member party of adventurers and perform every action by playing cards drawn from the deck. The game is designed to resemble tabletop role-playing games which are played with the use of figurines and paper maps.

Puzzle, Educational, Singleplayer, Verbal, Free-to-play.

A mobile puzzle/educational game from Spry Fox studio, in which the players must assemble words out of blocks with letters. After aligning one, the titular bears appear in slots where the block were, unlocking more blocks and giving various bonuses in points. As the game progresses, bears become bigger and bigger, greatly increasing our score. The whole difficulty of Alphabear comes from the fact that letters stay on board for limited amount of rounds, and failing to remove each results in it turning into an immovable obstacle that blocks part of a board and prevents enlarging of said bears. There are several varied game modes, changing each day, and the title is distributed as free-to-play production. Alphabear stands out with its colorful and good visuals, something rather uncommon in puzzle games.

Gunpowder is a puzzle game set in the Wild West where players have to carefully plan and create an explosion. The game's plot loosely refers to the legend of Robin Hood. A rich businessman called Grimshaw intends to build a railway all the way through a small town, not caring about the fate of its citizens. A lone vigilante Incendio, equipped only with a barrel of gunpowder and his cunning, stands up for them. The game offers 150 diversified levels, each of them being split into 5 chapters. On each of them we will have to arrange and carefully create an explosion that will destroy Grimshaw's wealth and estates. Speeding trains and their carriages, mining carts, cannons, even fireflies, can work as a catalyst for our explosion. It creates many opportunities for the more creative players. The more creative we are, the more points we get. Gunpowder has colorful, cartoonish visuals and is filled with humor.

Strategy, Gangster, Singleplayer, Turn-based.

A mobile strategy game based on the free-to-play business model, developed by the creators of the Just Cause series. Rumble City takes place in the United States of 60s and tells the story of a motorcycle gang war over the control of the Los Poderosos city. The player acts as the leader of one of those groups, and their task is to rebuild the gang and eliminate the competition. However, game takes this well-known Hollywood trope with a grain of salt. The first step is to recruit some old friends and new members that will follow the player’s orders. Each thug has his or her own statistics and skills, which can be developed to increase his or her effectiveness in combat. This is the main part of gameplay, along with the focus on using members’ skills correctly. This allows for conquering of new territories in the town, which we observe from isometric view, and the game ends when we have complete control.

Strategy, 2D, RPG Elements, Fantasy, Hotseat, Humorous, Indie Games, Internet, Co-op, Multiplayer, Singleplayer, Tactics, Turn-based.

A 2D tactical strategy game developed by The Behemoth - an independent American studio. The player is taken to an unusual universe which combines the features of classic fantasy with science-fiction; moreover, the entire adventure is filled with absurd humor. A story campaign constitutes the core of this experience - it can be completed either solo or in the co-op mode for two players. The gameplay as such has two branches here - on one hand, the player traverses the game world in real time, visiting different places (such as towns), taking quests from NPCs and gathering gold, as well as different items; on the other hand, the player fights turn-based battles on maps covered with hexes. Pit People distinguishes itself among other representatives of the genre by the presence of the narrator - this figure not only comments on the events on the screen, but also influences them in order to make the job of the player-controlled characters harder. Additionally, the game offers a competition-based mode for 4 players (two teams fight one another).
