Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars is a 2D logic platform game developed by Nintendo. The game uses the most famous characters from the company's cult games. In Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars we have to make our way through a series of levels where reaching the destination requires us to be creative when facing the many obstacles on our way. Characters move by themselves and go in one direction all the time, changing it only when they bounce off the wall. Players will have to build bridges and blockades in order to lead their heroes from one place to another. The amount of points they get depends on how fast they do so. The game has minimalistic 2D visuals, but it comes with a level editor that allows us to create our own levels and share them with other players.

If he fails to do so, those players who reach the finish line with some of their health points remaining, win. We can play as characters known from the previous games of the series like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, or Wario. The game has cartoonish visuals, a trademark of Mario games.

The action of the game takes place in a unique version of the afterlife, inspired by noir movies and Mexican folklore. The player assumes control of Manny, a recently deceased who takes over the honorable position of a travel agent with the Department of Death. Dissatisfied with the fact that some of the dead have to embark on a four-year journey to reach the afterlife, our hero receives a lead that turns him onto a huge bribery scandal. Manny has to follow the other souls and reach the afterlife on foot in order to uncover the mystery. Visually, the game maintains the atmosphere and the characteristic animation style seen in the original game.

A platform game that continues the story of the gunslinger named Clive. After saving the daughter of Mayor Johnson, the protagonist returns to his hometown, which in the meantime was attacked by bandits. Without thinking too much, Clive begins chasing the leader of the villains, as capturing him is the only way to save his home. The chase takes place across half of the world, enabling the Swedish studio Hörberg Productions to make campaign levels more varied. Levels are filled with obstacles and enemies to defeat. Among the latter there are powerful bosses. During the journey the gunman is accompanied by friends with different abilities. All of this makes the game more interesting than its predecessor. The visuals are more impressive as well – two-dimensional levels are intertwined with 3D sequences that take advantage of the possibilities offered by 3DS console. The game works in constant 50 frames per second.

To find the treasure, the protagonist has to gather a team of similar adventurers, and embark on the dangerous journey. The developers were mainly inspired by games such as Zero Escape or the Ace Attorney series. When it comes to story, the player follows an extensive text narration and from time to time has to choose from a few alternative approaches. These decisions push the plot towards one of several possible outcomes, with each having unique subplots and a separate ending. At the same time, Exogenesis: Perils of Rebirth is different from typical visual novels, offering adventure game sequences that require exploring locations and solving various logic riddles.

There she discovers some shocking and well hidden information that reveal new facts about the human history and about a mysterious power, thanks to which the Soviets control almost the whole planet. As she will learn, the answers are hidden someplace high above the clouds. The gameplay mechanics weren’t greatly changed and the title still belongs to the metroidvania genre, which combines the traits of classic platform games with free exploration of the world and character development system taken from role-playing games. The title introduces three suits equipped with different weapons and passive abilities. The player can choose which one to use.

A refreshed version of Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony, a side-scroller taking place in an unusual setting. We are taken to an alternative version of 17th century, in which the Spanish, British, and Martian forces clash in a fight for the right to colonize Mars. The player assumes control over a small vessel that is tasked with the elimination of hordes of enemies that appear along the way. The gameplay of the new edition is almost identical to its predecessor, offering a two-dimensional side-scrolling experience seen from a top-down perspective. The action has a considerable pace, with simultaneous attack and evasive maneuvers requiring a good deal of dexterity. When it comes to novelties, Jamestown Plus contains a number of updates and fixes, as well as new ship models with unique armament and special abilities. Moreover, the authors introduced a new chapter of the story which concludes the events seen in the original game.

The Crow's Eye is a first-person horror adventure game. It was developed by the independent Spanish studio 3D2 Entertainment. We play as a young man who is trapped in the abandoned building of the Medical University in Crowswood against his own will. The building was closed in 1947 after a couple of students disappeared without a trace. We will have to not only find our way out of that place, but also discover its dark secrets. The fact that a mysterious observer watches our every step only makes the situation more complicated. Gameplay in The Crow's Eye is based on exploration and solving more or less complicated riddles and puzzles. Studying the notes and audio and video recordings left in the building also plays an important role in the game. By doing so, we may finally learn what happened there twenty years ago. The game features high-quality 3D visuals. Its atmosphere is built by the interesting visual effects, with the unique play of lights and occasional distortion of the screen leading the way. The Crow's Eye specially composed soundtrack only makes the game feel more eerie and spooky.

The new version was created by Big Deez Productions and contrary to the original game (which had as many supporters as it had opponents back in the 90s), Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is a modern-day fighting game, which combines elements of such classics as Streets of Rage or Street Fighter with features of 3D action games, such as Devil May Cry. Again, the player assumes the role of a muscular basketballer who traverses diverse locations and fights various enemies, as well as powerful bosses. In combat, Shaq makes use of a set of techniques, punches, combos and power-ups. What is also helpful in eliminating the opponents, is the presence of destructible environments and different weapons. As the game progresses, the protagonist develops their skills in order to face more and more powerful enemies, and eventually, the mysterious Black Star Ninja.

The first large expansion to the popular survival game State of Decay. This sandbox title created by Undead Labs takes the player to a post-apocalyptic world overrun by a zombie plague. The player must rebuild the human society. The expansion adds a new campaign, the completing of which takes a few hours. The campaign tells a completely new story. The game takes place in a small city called Denforth, where the protagonist is sent in order to save the scientists that are there. In contrast to the original game, in Lifeline one doesn’t have to face the constant lack of supplies and weaponry – when the game starts, the player has plenty of both. Eventually, however, the hordes of zombies attacking the players hideout will cause the supplies to run out, forcing the player to look for alternative ways of survival. The developers added a bit of non-linearity to the game and greatly improved the communication system in the team.

As we progress, we discover subsequent story elements and find out what actually happened on the ship and how we came to be completely alone. The production emphasizes the atmosphere of danger, built suggestively by both the soundtrack and the graphics, powered by Unreal Engine.

Decisions we make directly influence the protagonist’s fate and the game’s ending. Always Sometimes Monsters was made with RPG Maker which is the reason why it features very simple two-dimensional graphics and a camera placed at 45 degrees angle.

The game is characteristic for its voice acting recorded by a renowned cast featuring Will Wheaton, Ashley Burch, or Laura Bailey.
