Tang Palace Maid is one of the first bosses you will encounter while exploring Buddha Cliffs. This optional enemy is located in a cave. Still, defeating her is worth the effort. Moreover, she will also appear later in the game, offering a larger set of attacks. On this page of the Wuchang Fallen Feathers guide, you will learn how to defeat her twice.

Tang Palace Maid in a nutshell

  1. Tang Palace Maid can be treated as a tutorial boss. She's neither particularly strong nor fast. While fighting her, tutorial messages may appear that teach you certain mechanics.
  2. The boss applies the Burn status, which, when fully filled, will deal you continuous fire damage and increased damage while the effect is active. We recommend wearing armor that provides good protection against this element.
  3. Tang Palace Maid has a relatively small amount of health. Moreover, she is vulnerable to attacks from behind, which can also give you a chance to perform the Obliterate mechanic, i.e., a critical hit that deals very high damage. This is why it's worth approaching her from behind and attacking her this way.
  4. You can encounter this boss later in the game, too. She will have a few new attacks and will also become more aggressive.

Tang Palace Maid's attacks (Buddha Cliffs)

  1. Double swing with a fire weapon - the opponent will swing her burning weapon twice. The attacks are carried out in short time intervals.
  2. Thrust - the boss can perform a quick thrust in a straight line; don't try to dodge this attack backwards, as it can still reach you there. The boss's weapon has a long range. Instead, dodge to the side.

Tang Palace Maid's attacks (second fight)

In the second fight, Maid has the same attacks as her first version, but they are performed at a faster pace. However, she will receive some new attacks as well.

  1. Magic bullets fire - the boss will ignite her weapon and then swing it at the player. After a while, magic orbs will be created which, upon contact with the player's character, will deal damage and inflict the Despair status.
  2. Series of 5 attacks - this attack is very similar to the double swing from the previous version, but the pace will be much faster, and she will perform 4 such attacks. At the very end, she will slow down and perform a weapon thrust.
  3. Grab - Tang Palace Maid may start running towards you with her hand outstretched. When she gets close to you, she will grab Wuchang. It is worth dodging towards the enemy, slightly to the side, as this attack does not track the player's movement very well.

How to fight Tang Palace Maid (first fight)?

This fight shouldn't cause you any major problems. The boss only has two attacks and they are rather unlikely to surprise you in any way. Moreover, stronger, charged attacks will cause the opponent to stagger and lose her balance for a moment. She is very slow, which means you can easily get around her and attack where it hurts her the most, namely her back.

Such attacks will cause the circle visible when the camera is locked on the enemy to fill up faster, which will make it possible to perform an Obliterate, a critical hit that can take away up to 1/3 of her health bar.

You can even use elevations in the arena to your advantage, as Tang Palace Maid moves slowly, making it easy to hit her with an aerial attack.

How to fight Tang Palace Maid (second fight)?

As the second version of Tang Palace Maid is more aggressive, there will be slightly fewer attack options. Because of that, it is worth arming yourself with abilities that will allow you to block or deflect her blows. The Clash ability is also recommended, as it allows you to reduce the damage you receive while performing your attacks.

You can deal damage to the second Tang Palace Maid without fear of being injured yourself when she performs a grab that fails or a thrust. Since she's a humanoid enemy, you can even knock her down, giving you extra time to deal some damage. Fortunately, just like her previous version, she doesn't have too many health points.
