10 km of Highway Built in Minecraft Across 5 Years

A Minecraft player has spent several years building a highway in the game. The road is 10 kilometers long and besides its impressive length, it also shows how the game has changed.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. One Minecraft player created a 10km highway in the game;
  2. As he admits, it took him 5 years to make it.

Mattycarl is another ambitious builder who realizes himself in Minecraft. He's created a highway that's over 10 kilometers (or 10,000 blocks) long. As the creator says, he began work on the project in 2016. You can see the route in the video below.

As it is not difficult to guess, Minecraft has changed significantly in the last five years, so the biomes (environments) visible on the map stirred curiosity among the Reddit community. Questions have been raised about the version of the game that mattycarl was using when the work began. As he answers:

"When I started making highways in 2013, daylight sensors didn't have a night mode yet so we powered our redstone lamp posts with levers; I decided to stick with that just to keep it consistent, even though a daylight sensor does make more sense."

As is usually the case with Minecraft creations, there have also been questions about being able to see the map up close, but in this case that's not possible. The world on which the highway is built is a single-player one, and hosting a server or making the map available online requires some effort.

However, not wanting to leave the community with nothing, in addition to the video mattycarl also shared a photo of the entire map and the highway layout (which you can see below).

This is not the first feat of builders from Minecraft, about which we write. Some time ago, the attention of the community of the aforementioned sandbox game was also caught by the project of a huge, space map, as well as a square version of the town from Star Wars.
