A Plague Tale: Requiem Launches; Reviewers Praise But 30 FPS Hurts
The long-awaited A Plague Tale: Requiem has launched. According to reviews, we have a candidate for game of the year. Unfortunately, the optimization leaves much to be desired.
A time of great expectation has come to an end. Today marks the release of A Plague Tale: Requiem - sequel to 2019'sA Plague Tale: Innocence from French developer Asobo Studio. The title is collecting great reviews, although it was not without some controversy.
Unlike the previous part, the new installment of the adventures of Amicia and Hugo will not be available on 8th-gen consoles. The game was released on PC via Steam, GOG and Epic, as well as on PS5 (via PS Store), Xbox Series S/X (in the Microsoft Store and witch (Nintendo Store). The title has also made its way to Xbox Game Pass.
Reviews praise the game
You can read out review here. On Metacritic, the PC version of the game has an average rating of 81/100, the PS5 edition has 84/100, and on Xbox Series X the game enjoys 85/100. On Steam, 79% of reviews are positive (at the time of writing, the website has 100 reviews).

30 fps on consoles is the unpleasant reality
Unfortunately, a problem regularly recurring in reviews is less than stellar optimization. The PC version has trouble with maintaining stable 60 frames on RTX 3000 series GPUs. In turn, on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles it is necessary to play at 1440p and 30 fps (in performance mode, the game maintains an average of 40 frames per second). Xbox Series S only supports 1080p at 30 fps. In addition, the release version of the game is not compatible with Steam Deck.
