Konami is thinking hard about the future of the Metal Gear series. We'll have to wait a lot longer for the next remake, as the publisher first wants to see how Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will do on the market.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater may not be the only new project in the franchise to come from Konami.Noriaki Okamura, who serves as the series producer, in an interview with Famitsu, stated that Konami is thinking about the next installments of the series. However, no definitive decisions have been made yet, as the company first wants to see the reception of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
After the company broke off its partnership with the series' creator Hideo Kojima in 2015, Konami developed Metal Gear Survive, but that game's failure caused the series to be shelved for a long time. Only recently has this approach begun to change. Last year, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was released, which bundled Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater into one collection.
We already know that the MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 is planned as well. For now, the company is not revealing which games will be included in this set, but it seems that it will be Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and with a bit of luck we might also get Metal Gear Acid and Metal Gear Acid 2.
Developing a remake of Metal Gear Solid would be expensive, so it's not surprising that Konami has declared that the company first wants to see how Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will perform.
